Some thing needs to be done about this

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31888718

I never thought I would say this but DH has my sympathy.
Nobody deserves this kind of treatment!
Just imagine how distraught you would be if it happened to you.
I'm thinking there needs to be more public awareness and Leeds fans could assist in that.

It's still meddling in the affairs of other countries. The investigation is still ongoing. We have a number of people on remand in this country for a variety of alleged misdemeanours. In what way is that different?

People on remand have been charged with an offence.

Anybody who justifies this sort of thing needs to have a long hard word with themselves.

I'm not sure anyone is justifying it merely explaining how it is.

Jud, valid point. The illegal immigrants?

Illegal immigrants, by definition have broken the law. I had to do it too but does not change the fact I broke the law.

I used to work quite closely with some of these people when I was in the medical industry. Their crime, and we're talking kids some of the time, was to flee oppression and/or torture in the land of their birth. They get put into camps over hear whilst their cases are heard.

Not sure what's in the public domain at the moment but some of these people are "held" for over two years in establishments for almost two years.

I'm not on any moral crusade here, there are reasons for their detention, mostly down to the level of red tape in this country. My question is that this is the rule of this land, it is what it is and in what way is this different to Haigh's plight? It's the law of their land. We might not find it palatable but it's not our business to meddle....

I understand the reasons they left their country originally, to avoid war and death.

And I kind of understand the link you are trying to make between an illegal immigrant being detained and Haigh being detained.

But lets not forget, that the immigrants are most definitely immigrants, and are 100% in the country illegally...no question about it regardless of the situation in their own country - if we don't detain them in the UK and they are never seen again...that's people in the country who we cannot find or identify...which is very dangerous. Im not saying all illegal immigrants are dangerous....but if there are thousands of them, even 1 dangerous person amongst them is too many to have on the streets with not possible way to find or identify them!

Haigh went to Dubai for personal gain to my understanding, and is alleged to be involved in dishonest or fraudulent acts. He could potentially be a flight risk and is being detained within the law in that country as are the immigrants in ours.

Valid point, but there are also a considerable number remanded for committing crime having entered illegally. There are a considerable number who have simply illegally entered our shores for financial reasons.

It is not always clear cut.

"All countries must follow international laws for which the human rights are a part of. We should be pulling them up on this."

I completely agree Pro, and some organisation has been to see him regularly, prisoners abroad I think, but as we all know, human rights policies, though maybe in place are not always followed by every country, especially many Asian Countries.

I also think Stevies comments are valid, DH dropped himself in it and, given everything that's transpired really only has himself to blame for landing himself in the spot he is in.

Thing is, irrespective of allegations made by GFH towards DH, I still think he should be treated more humanely, more so because no charges have been laid yet, however, we are not Dubai and they will continue to treat people as they see it within their rights and laws.

I also think there's a lot more to come that hasn't been revealed yet, and I'm sure most would love to see DH bring GFH down.

While we can all post our various differing opinions and comments, it becomes a whole different show if any of us found ourselves in DH's situation.
