It was hilarious, what made it funny was the media saying that liverpool needed Gerrard's experience in a a game such as that.
In less than a minute he sprayed a hollywood ball to the right wing which was unnecessary, a chipped pass over Herrera on the halfway line which could easily have been cut out and, again, was an unnecessary risk, could have been booked for his challenge on Mata, then gets a straight red.
Say what you like about Allen, or Lucas, they wouldn't have been that stupid in the same situation.

I remember Herrera playing his first preseason game for us and I was shocked how aggressive he was in his tackling/ challenges.
