Guggenheim Partnership

Actual name mentioned re sale of Villa.

Dont see why Sherwood should lose his job if sale goes through.
What do we think?

Seems it's two of the mega-rich investors in the Partnership who are interested, rather than the Partnership itself.

As usual, take this with a pinch of salt, particularly the Sherwood bit. While any new owner will ask questions about the CEO and manager (it's what sensible people do), it's unlikely that information of this nature would seep out into the public domain at this stage.

I think there's a very good case for keeping both Fox and Sherwood. Fox has revamped both the organisation and direction of the club, with a decent plan for building the club up over the forthcoming years. Sherwood is part of the plan, and my guess is that he was on Fox's radar way before Lambert was sacked; Sherwood to me is a good fit for the club now and for the future. Moreover, Sherwood is riding high with fans, and if we avoid relegation then a lot would be dischuffed if he was then sacked. Not a good way for new owners to start.

There is, however, another scenario, where new owners come in, ditch Fox's strategy, and go for throwing mega-bucks at the club in attempt to achieve major success. In that case they might want a proven successful manager in place; Benitez comes to mind. I'd be surprised if Benitez isn't back in the PL next season.

Me? I don't think mega-bucks guarantees success. For one thing, along with mega-bucks comes high, probably too-high, expectations. I think developing a squad of well-trained, exciting players through other channels is a more realistic, and more satisfying, way to success, and I think Sherwood's shown enough to be the manager who's given the chance to do it.

You guys won't go down. I'm hoping we can beat QPR and Leicester in our next two home games to help send them down, then after that I hope it's Hull or Sunderland who go down. Hull, to teach their arrogant Arab chairman a lesson for wanting to change the name of the club, against the supporters' wishes, to Hull Tigers to be a 'better brand'; and Sunderland, because they're such a badly-run club with fickle supporters who think the world owes them great things.

Probably not but I wouldn't be too confident, you are not very good and there are more difficult games left
