Goals

Back to winning ways last night, I’ve not seen the match yet but delighted with the result. It was mentioned on the match thread we used a back four??

If this is correct then maybe this is a chance to add more goals as it allows us to get our best attacking players in their most threatening positions:

--------------------------------- Sturridge
Sterling -----------------------Coutinho --------------- Ibe / Marko

With two sitting like Hendo & Lucas

Or

-----------------Sturridge --------------- Sterling

-------------------------- Coutinho

With the diamond.

Are we ready for another formation change / is this likely to bring more goals… Thoughts?

Wwe definitely need two strikers as we looked pretty toothless last night...Sturridge looks rather frustrated at times when he is isolated

The encouraging thing for me last night was that we defended very well in a 4.

We didn't do that in the first half of the season at all.

I don't think there is a magic wand to add more goals to this side.

That won't happen until we get a new striker, IMO.

With the players we have, we won't be prolific, but if we keep defending well we can win most games.

Sakho is probably out for 2-3 weeks so we have no choice but to play a flat back 4.

We need to bring Can into midfield to replace Allen as Lucas is better as DM. You have a better chance of winning the lottery than see a goal from either Lucas or Allen.

Sturridge does need better support.

I agree with that Kash.

Can and Hendo pushing forward can both offer a goal threat, and Coutinho, Sterling and Sturridge will always offer a threat.

It's not perfect, but it's the best we have at the moment.

Hopefully Lovren can finish the season well and show he has something to offer for next season.

If Studge can shake off the rust and hit some form in the closing games then that, on its own will increase our goal threat significantly.

Big if tho, he was out for such a long time. Liekly we won't see him back to his best till next season (provided he can stay free of injury?!?).
