Our best player in Premier League history?

Tricky one, but Gareth Bale would just about shade it IMO, it took a long time for him to eventually make his mark. The first game he caught the attention of European clubs was his hat-trick in the 2nd half of the Champions league tie in the San Siro versus Inter Milan in 2010. His final season with us saw him being our leading goalscorer.

As for other former players, Ledley King has to be in the top 10, who's career was blighted by injuries. Would anyone include Teddy Sheringham or David Ginola in that list? Harry Kane will be if his rich vein of form continues for us next season.

The reason why the PL is such a good time-frame is because it isn't an easy answer.

Had the question been 'best Spurs player of all time' then the list would always involve Greaves, Blanchflower, Jennings & Hoddle. A little more dull.

If we are are going to talk about Spurs greatest ever players
----------------------------------------------------------------------

We are not though Sandy, the OP was about best spurs players since the Premiership. It's a perfectly valid period of time / topic of discussion.

Your rant is a bit misplaced here.

It is hardly a rant to say any chat about Spurs best ever players must include more than just the premiership era. Three-quarters of Spurs history was before the prem even began. Nonsense to pigeon hole football into such a short timescale.

Anyway, you lot seem to have wiped any football prior to the prem out of your lives. So will leave you lot to discuss football history 1990s to present time.

But that's the point, the person who started this discussion chose that period.

Not great form to come on and tell people they're wrong for discussing something that they want to discuss. By all means start another 'best ever player' article and I'm sure it would be a corker

Not having a go mate, it is a forum where posters can discuss what they like. Just curious to know why though a best ever Spurs player should be pigeon-holed into just the Prem era. No offence meant.

But the article isn't about Spurs best ever player Sandy. A large chunk of fans on here, probably the majority, would be unable to make an informed decision on our best ever player, which is why it's easier to discuss he PL era.

I know and don't worry I'm not that sensitive!

Suppose the Prem era is an easily identifiable and recognised period of football. People quite quickly know what that covers.

Also, and probably the main reason, it's likely to be the period that most people on here know about cos of their age. I'm 32 the premier league was what I mostly grew up with.

I get that older posters have knowledge of more than this!
