As a tribute to Gerrard just had this on my mind of what the best Liverpool 11 is that he's played under. Midfield was the tricky one for me. Just in terms of wingers really. Here's what I would consider it to be:
Reina
Johnson Carragher Hypia Riise
Sturridge Alonso Gerrard Sterling
Suarez Owen
Midfield was a tricky one for me. Haman, Masherano were very good players but similar position to Alonson but a bit deeper and I felt Alonso was one of the best midfielders Liverpool have had in the 21st century after Gerrard, Only other real wingers I could think of was Berger and Redknapp however they only played with Gerrard for a few years. Torres could have been another option upfront but Suarez and Owen just about edged it for me.

Did Gerrard play with Rob Jones? He was a class RB if not for injuries would have challenged Neville for the RB berth for England

Surprised to see so many people picking Johnson over Finnan. Finnan was the ultimate reliable player, you always knew you were going to get at least a 7/10 from him. He got a fair few assists as well over the years

For me it's tight between Finnan and Johnson
Finnan got criticised often for not adding enough to attack and Johnson the opposite.
It's down to preference/belief in what a fullbacks job is.

Now for the best 11 players Gerrard has played with throughout his career so England would be included in this. This is what I feel the best 11 would be:

For me Finnan was reliable, better than average but never did great things. Johnson for me in his prime was perfect for us, the attacking full back we wanted, with a defensive midfielder who was able to clean up after him, in Mascherano.
I guess it just depends on what type of full back you prefer.

That was probably the best English back 4 in the 21st century. Even though I can't stand that John Terry. I'd have Alonso ahead of Lampard because Lampard and Gerrard could never play well together due to similar position. Again there haven't been too many great English left wingers, Joe Cole was alright but faded. Kuyt mainly played on the right wing with Liverpool but I'm sure he was capable of playing on the left as well.

I've never been overly impressed with Terry for England.
It's a mismatch, Terry would make that side if you were using league form, but Gerrard only played with him for England
and no way Kuyt and Rooney get into that side. Torres at liverpool was miles ahead of both.
