So lets see who can be the most right all along by the end of August. Three questions;
How many players will we sign in this transfer window?
How much will we spend in this transfer window?
How many players will we sell this summer (not including frees or out of contracts)?

It's 13.37 million on my list!

I said often that what we achieved last season was impressive given the inexperience of our squad and how shallow it was.

Cinci asks why players want to play for McCarthy rather than Jackett. I can't imagine there's a simple answer, but the records of the managers, and the respect they have in the game, probably plays a big part.

Just read your latest slant on the Ipswich wolves comparison Cinci which gets more bonkers every time you mention it. Now you are comparing 7 players wages against Afobe's signing on fee. Did we not pay Afobe any salary, do we conveniently forget all expenditure before January? I know your verbal diarrhoea leads you to talk lots of rubbish but try to add a bit of sense

Didn't I say take Chris woods wage and put that against afobes?
So cancelling each others wage out, though of course being generous in reality as wood is a big earner.
So my comment was that the other 7 wages probably don't fall much short of afobes signing on fee.
Being generous let's say 70-80 grand a week, over say 18 weeks. So not far off 1.5 million.
So complete sense

Oh and don't forget the 200 odd grand for freddie sears.

I still think of Wolves as being a bigger club than Ipswich. Not sure why they they are considered better at paying wages, if true.

Yes perfect sense as long as we forget about Saville, Rowe, Kucszcak, Sagbo, Graham
Over the season Wolves spent a lot more on new players Than Ipswich. We decided to spend £3.5m on transfer fees they went Largely for frees and loans. But adding transfer fees and wages together we spent a lot more than they did. But then they are hard up and we aren't.
Maybe we would have done better adopting their policy. But given how little Sagbo and Graham contributed to our season maybe loans are not something Kenny is good at.
On top of that we are still paying Saville and Rowe and maybe wish we weren't whereas Ipswich can start afresh with new loans. But then they also now have a few million from the sale of Mings who they bought for £15k

Wikipedia puts it as 10k, which still gives a tidy profit, if the sale figure of 8 million to Bournemouth is correct.
To think he almost gave up the game. There's a moral there somewhere.

Ummmm DJ, I didn't include 12 Ipswich signings from the summer, as I didn't include ours from the summer either.
I could work out the wages for all of that as well but again, it is clear there would be very little in it between both teams outlays last season.
I just took a small sample size from the new year on as that was relevant to the 3 players we missed out on, which was the original point, but of course, you had to create a row regardless.
