lol John Barnes

Spoke to Alan Brazil this morning on radio and goes I wished someone bullied me to sign a 100k contract

I think one thing some may be forgetting is that potentially the higher contract sterling will get the bigger percentage cut the agent will get. So those saying oh what is an extra 20k per week. Well that is like a million more in the year and depending on his arrangement with his agent he could get say 5 percent of that extra mil. So it is in the agents interest to cash in much as possible. All this other stuff is just excuse. I bet as Barnes said he was offered 200k a week now he will sign it straight away

He wants more. We said no. Another club is willing to pay it so let make move happen. But don't throw this trophy argument when in last two seasons he and his team mates had the chance to win a league title , league cup and fa cup. It's not like we bombed out of those competitors straight away.

but you didn't win them goofy. arsenal, city, united and chelsea have all won more than you over the last 5 years, pool have only seen the CL once in the last 5 years, and most neutrals would have them as more likely to win trophies over the next 5 years.

so agree or disagree with sterling's view on trophies, but it isn't outrageous for him to think that surely?

Why the hell are you talking about credibility of TalkSport you idiot? This isn't a transfer rumour ffs, it's a quote direct from John Barnes' mouth, nobody cares where he said it. The OP hasn't even mentioned TalkSport. He most probably read it on Twitter where everything and anything is repeated.

Alas having a complete mare here.

as I said before BR should ask Sterling a simple question "do you want to play for LFC YES or NO" no if's or but's if the answer is NO send him on his bike if YES we can go from there, don't forget Sterling has 2 years left on his contract.

It wouldn’t be outrageous, when we were challenging for the title last year, or in the FA Cup semi-final this year, for Sterling to step up and prove that he’s the kind of game-changer that would justify the hype about him.

I personally don’t think he is, but let’s hope somebody else does, and that the queue of big-club suitors he’s expecting materialises.

I'm honesty astounded that these yonung players with potential keep moving to the money clubs.

Have they not seen what's happened to Shaun Wright Phillips, Jack Rodwell and Scott Sinclair? At the age of 20 or 21, surely it would be better to take an extra couple of years to really establish yourself, develop, and be moving to a money club when you area first team star, rather than a kid with potential?

It's happened time and again, and it baffles me that these kids think that "no, I'll be fine, it won't happen to me." But realistically, you're going to have a job on to displace the likes of the Hazards, Silvas, even Nasris of this world at the money clubs.

There are plenty who have fallen foul of this, and I can really only think of Rooney and Walcott who moved at such a young age and have really forged a career for themselves. Rooney was always going to be special, and you can argue whether Walcott has ever really lived up to his potential.

Maybe they believe in themselves to make it at a bigger club but find out its a lot harder than they first thought to displace a first teamer. Things go downhill, they may get injured and just end up being on the fringes throughout their contract. That or they just stop working on their game once they get that big contract with a big club. Money changes people. Right down from a beggar on the street up to a professional sportsman. Motivation goes when you dont have to work as hard to get paid.

On the flipside, they probably think, if they dont move now to a bigger club whilst their stock is relatively high, they may not get a move later on in their career.

Problem for sterling is he seems the sort that gets worried about negative press about him. Just remember the tweets he did after saying he was tires to play for England. At one of the big money clubs he is going to get even more expectations and sports light on him. Will he be able to cope it that at his age?
