Well it seems that Newcastle are back in for McClaren hence the hold up. Also if Clement walks from Real or has a manager release clause then Derby pay nowt!

Show me a comment that says he will take the league by storm apart from the ones on here?? Any managerial change is risky business, countless managers have been successful at some clubs and flopped at others. Clement must have something about him because according to the media, clubs have been chasing him for the last 2 seasons. Only time will tell.

Let's face it, anything going forward trying to play football with lots of goals and a first season excitement was a huge step up from the dullard Nigel era.

Plenty of managers could have come in and done similar but because this was a man who was trying to regain his status on home soil really needed to do it first time, ie the play off final.

I said it when he was at Forest after we beat them in the ten man game that this league didn't suit him and while I welcomed him back with open arms it's not so hard to let go.

He could do well at the hammers, Geordies (what ever way I was spelling that (Beirut) was my second choice on that spellcheck stuff.

Anyone else reckon Paul Ince might rock up with Tom in his pocket and say Gis a job, I can do that.....I'll even have a word with ?Steve.

Btw, that's Bruce.

Apparently gone now, it's a strange one because managers get linked with other clubs and only play it down; but it doesn't derail the whole season. It's almost like that's an excuse but Derby don't do those. He finally rules the move out totally and then sacked shortly after. NLN had great difficultly being sacked by Derby, but clearly not loyalty for the poor old Wally. I thought overall he was doing well with them but expectations had gone through the roof. Quite how some could claim they had a better squad than the likes of Norwich is beyond me

I would be very careful with Clement. An "entranador" (trainer) in Spain is very different to being a manager in England. In Spain they tell the chairman who they want to buy and from there on in, it is out of their hands. The club will have a team to sort out contracts and stuff.

In England, as a manager, you have to deal with the players, agents and all and sundry.

It is one huge step up, IMO.

OK, agreed, there are some trainers who do make it, Benitez, Karanka, Martinez, but they are few and far between, and this Clement guy, whilst experienced in training, probably has no experience of negotiating...

Just my two-pennorth...

Wrong, Stevens didn't have to any of those dealings, he told Chris Evans, chief scout or Sam Rush who he wanted and they did his bidding with against etc.

The same will be the same with Clement, he's here to coach as in Spain.
