It's on!

I don't think this has been posted yet.
Celtic are introducing the safe standing system to part of their stadium. They are basically replacing the existing static seats with the rail, fold down seat option which they need for European games.
No season ticket holder loses their seat and people have the choice as to whether or not to stand or sit at games, which is what I've always wanted personally, the choice.
I hope this is embraced by all clubs in the country, football is a game that is supposed to be watched standing up.
When ever anything happens, a goal, a missed chance, a great save, a reckless tackle, penalty appeal, corner or free-kick is given you indistinctly get to your feet.
I think the opposition to safe standing has been due to Hillsborough but things have came a long way since the dilapidated stadiums that used to host games.
There's no overcrowding because they are replacing a static seat with a fold down seat, not trying to cram fans into an already packed stadium.
Safe standing in football

In Ireland at gaa games we usually have standing areas/terrace behind both goals. Tickets are slightly cheaper and the atmosphere is generally better. It is also never dangerous due to a limit on the tickets sold for these areas.

My back can't handle me standing up for 90 minutes. I'm fooked if it goes into extra time and most likely need medical assistance if it ever got to pens.
Naa, i'm fine with me little chair thanks very much!

Can't wait
Sitting kills any atmosphere, as you say, any time the game gets exciting every automatically stands up. It makes you more inclined to join in chants and everything as well.

Sounds to me that 'safe standing' will simply result in clubs dipping further into fans pockets.
The way it's set up will do little to improve the atmosphere at games that those who want it are craving for.

There's no comparison with hilsborough to modern stadiums, fan numbers to sections can be controlled so why can't we bring it back.

Bring back the Boys-Pen!

It will help atmosphere IMO. Ours is pretty bad at the Emirates but our away fans are phenomenal so we can make noise with the right people all together.
A cheaper standing only end should help.

The best atmospheres used to be the games where loads of people had jibbed in and you thought ' there's more in here than they're should be'
I know they were a disaster waiting to happen, but anyone who's been to games like the final against Everton in 85 or the Barca CWC comeback never forget the atmosphere.

should never have been banned in the first place
