I could do an article on my powerlifting progress, programming etc if you want something other than football or rugby to read about.

With the strong Spanish element in the posts on this topic I want the recipe for a Northern Spain dish called Allubias - White beans slowly cooked with lots of meats and veggies/spices etc. Not totally sure of the spelling.

Will that introduce a suitable form of distraction from football

Must be a white bean stew for almost every town in Spain, Map, so you can do your own thing. If you have a slow cooker, you can get a very tasty effort with the addition of chunks of pork (cured, if you can find it) or lamb or rabbit, plus chorizo (essential), black pudding, smoked bacon, onion, garlic, a bit of saffron, oil and considerably less salt than the norm here. The Asturians tend to go for soaked butterbeans but most others use smaller white beans.

Cat, Thanks for that. It sounds about right. I used to eat it in a little restaurant just below the entrance to Bilbao Airport. It was truly superb.

In my opinion, Spanish cooking is the best in the world. In the same restaurant I once had hake served with a squid ink sauce. The brilliant white of the fish contrasted with the jet black of the squid ink and the taste was magical. Served with crispy slices of garlic.
Sublime. Unfortunately I don't get to travel too often now to Spain.

Why can't we have a discussion about carp fishing on the river trent. We could have sub-divisions to include baits- bait presentation- hook rigs- best times etc. I'm getting really excited already. 👍
