Is Darmian a haunted house?

Most people seem to think the reported transfer fee (€18-20 million) for Matteo Darmian is good value in today's prices and at the current exchange rate. In addition, I've seen reports stating he'll be on £30,000 a week, which is at the low end of the spectrum for a first team starter and the accomplished international we perceive him to be.

Why then is he so cheap? We seem to be lucky that none of the super-rich teams are in the market for a right back this summer. Still, you'd have thought there would be teams willing to pay him more than 30k. Is he disinterested in money and just dreams of playing for United? Are the salary reports unreliable? Or is he like the grand, five-bedroom house in a nice location that's a hundred grand cheaper than the market rate, and the wife and kids love it and want to move in but the asking price makes you uneasy, so you ask around and the locals are evasive but eventually someone in the pub tells you: that there was the house where he went mad one night and chopped up his whole family.

Reading through the replies...

So much analytic scrutiny but the best one of them all has to be

It's obvious.

Darmian if you take away the 'R' is Damian.

Damien, if spelt Damien was in the Omen so the A is wrong.

However, the R in this case stands for 18 as in the 18th letter of the alphabet and that equates to the reported 18mil Euro we are paying for him.

The 'A' that of course we are replacing with an 'E' is simply aligned with moving from Serie 'A' to the 'E'PL.

What this means? Who knows but certainly a plausible explanation of events."

Never seen or heard of him. There was plenty of hype around Moreno when he went to Liverpool and that hasn't really worked out. He could go that way or the same way Evra did, for £12M it seems worth the gamble

Moreno was never rated as an actual defender, to be fair.

Bats, the purpose of this thread is to debate whether Darmian's value is depressed by some hitherto unknown sinister reason.

So long as you don't ban Bats from a thread about haunted houses.

Is Darmian the guy that ran the length of the pitch before scoring vs Juve. I remember watching that game, pretty sure it was a young RB who scored
