Villa for the drop

Been close the last two seasons, getting a paltry 38 points in both seasons.

Sold their two best players. Sure they will spend a bit but are unlikely to get better than Delph and Benteke with the replacements. Cleverley who was decent for them has gone as well. Vlaar out for another 6 months after another operation.

Timmy did ok last season but thats all. 16 points from 13 league games was hardly a dramatic improvement, and that was with Benteke scoring nearly every game. They only got 4 points more than Hull and Burnley from when Timmy took over.

The cup final was an achievement but not indicative of any long term improvement.

Timmy is a blagger and will take them down if he lasts the season.

It's irrelevant

Even if Villa spend £32m on a player themselves (which ain't happening) then it's unlikely they'd be paying as much as £16m per installment.

It is probably to make the owner seem like he is investing more money than really is the case, despite huge sales and an increased television budget.

At the moment it is hard to envisage three clubs who are definitely worse than Villa, but you could have made that case in the last two seasons.

There are clubs who seem like they are in a good mid-table position, but will not take a great deal to unravel: Newcastle for example.

It's all going to depend on how Villa spend the transfer fees they receive. Currently I'd tip them to go down also as I don't rate Sherwood and both Depth and Benteke will be huge losses for them.

I suppose it depends to an extent on how the newly promoted teams perform too. I think Bournemouth will go straight back down, simply based on the fact that their last dozen fixtures are absolutely horrendous. And I just can't see them building up a big enough cushion in the previous 26 games. Watford are a bit of a circus in terms of managerial sackings too and I'm not sure they have the stability to stay up. I think Norwich will be okay so that leaves one more position

Bit early for writing us off

Yep we are in the deep crap it would seem but there is still time and I do trust Sherwood to give players a chance and get the best out of them.

If you are right well done, but at the moment we have as much chance of the drop as you have of qualifying for the Europa League again.

Our chances of qualifying for the Europa again are very high, so I guess you agree you are probably going down.

At the moment but we have time to get things right

All depends on how they spend the money.

Timmeh can motivate the players, but I'm unsure how he and he will react his ego will cope if they do find themselves in a relegation scrap.

Not sure if you mean we are going to finish lower or higher than Europa League <confused>

But since Benteke is pretty much your only goalscorer and has kept you in the league almost single handedly for the last three seasons, I'd say Villa going down isn't out of the realms of possibility.

If they get Austin or can get performances out of Adebyor then they could have enough.

They've some seasoned pros in players like Richardson and Cole if they can keep them fit. Some decent wingers in Sinclair and Grealish. Gabby is always there and I quite like Westwood.

I don't think Sunderland have a much better squad tbh.

With signed well so far. Gueye can replace delph and we did well to get richards and amavi looks quality. As long as we spend the benteke money well then we will be fine.

People forget that you've just had a big influx of money. Like Southampton it'll just come down to good management if that's to make a difference, which is how it should be. I wish you well
