It's that time again
The season kicks off this Sunday with the Terrors entertaining the Dandy Dons and we'll be hoping for a similar start as we had last season against the Dons, where we skelped them 3-0 on the opening day.
It's changed days though at Tannadice from this time last year, to the extent that of the starting XI from 12 months ago only 4 of the starting XI are still at the club. Cierzniak, Watson, Townsend, Fojut, Armstrong, GMS and Ciftci have all moved on to pastures new.
There's been a lot of media coverage surrounding new signing Rodney Sneijder predictably enough, with the insightful Scottish media once again ignoring the player himself and focussing on his talented brother. Thanks for that guys, really gives us fans an idea of what the player is capable of.
Apparently he also knocked back Galatasary to sign for us. Of course he did.
Jackie did state that he's "all left foot" so that's interesting. I do wonder if he'll play from the right or if he's going to be very much in behind the striker. Who that striker will be of course we'll have to wait and see. Bilate has been showing glimpses of his capabilities in pre-season but then we have signed Bodul who I would expect to feature.
Souttar should be the main man though this season - assuming we keep him. He's still not signed the deal offered to him in June and his current deal expires next summer. Let's hope he stays. I await the expected "he'll be at Celtic soon" jibes on this one.
In other news:
The Snug bar is opening it's Frank Kopel lounge this weekend.
Robbie Muirhead is up for FIFA goal of the year (I think it's FIFA - might be UEFA)
The flats on the Provie Road opposite Dens have been painted tangerine. The Dees are spewing. Or they don't really care. One of the two.
Numerous media sources have stated we lost to Everton last night at Dens. Needless to say it was the Dees.
There we have it. DUFC News. The most important thing on this site.
Mon the Terrors.

It might be a surprise to most, but our bid is still the highest Hibs have received for the player.
I personally think we're overstocked in midfield as it is and we'd have to let someone go first. We've got Paton, Rankin, Souttar, Telfer, Spittal, Fraser (who I expect to break through) and Smith (who probably won't).

If Hibs accepted a bid from anybody else then the player will refuse to go and hold out til January to sign a pre contract with rangers
Hibs will then assess if they realistically still have a chance of winning the league then may decide to punt him over early for a few grand

I would love if we got rid of Anier. I think we have to if I'm honest. We don't have enough spaces for all the strikers on the books.
I suspect we'd still have to contribute to his wages though.
Again though, if we take McGinn we're going to have a lot of players for the same positions.
