Some thoughts looking forward...

1. Vorm has a couple of clangers in him and looks unreliable which is strange as I always rated him at Swasea. I thought he was top notch but you can guarantee that he will cost us a point or goal this weekend.

2. Bentaleb looks like he is going to take on more responsibility for getting the team going which is great. I just hope he does not overplay as he did today because he got caught out a couple of times. I've not seen too much from others yet to suggests that they will do the same.

3. None of the players in behind Kane really did anything and the service was poor. I think this was mainly due to the class of Real but one thing I've noticed is that we don't have the ability to nick a goal. I feel that we need to dominate possession to get a goal which makes it harder against superior opposition.

We were completely outclassed today but that's OK, we know that we won't be playing them every week and our talented players will come through against lesser opposition. I'm not confidant for the utd game but I'll live in hope.

Anybody else notice anything?

Moving the ball quickly has been a problem......pretty much since HR went.

And its already shaping up to be yet another season of clusterfooks at the back.....

Spurs supporters really amaze me at times.
This site has been going crazy re us playing these games so close to Saturday's match at OT, saying it was stupid and risky.

Now we have people saying it was too pedestrian and no sign of high pressure or intensity!!!!

Why??? In all respects it was a pre season friendly and I don't think we need read too much into things as they currently stand.

Actual league games are totally different and I expect to see a different dynamic on Saturday

As for LLM saying Poch is not right for us, that is just his opinion. Like all of us he does some good posts and also some that are not so good! That's life folks!

Erm .... let me see now .... Oh Yes .....
Ronaldo and Benzima didn't show up on the pitch.
Lucky for us, I guess.
And maybe Bale will go to ManU.

Weare, cheers for the summary

Not quite sure if it was a good idea to play Kane or not, so close to the season either.

Genius - good post mate.

Ted - has there ever been a more negative / pointless ppster on this board than yourself (rivalled only by Just me Bill in the annoyance stakes)
Did you watch the game? Did that look like our first team? Or any team that is likely to be put out any point in the league this year? Yes, they had 2 of their best players out...but we hardly played full strength, and in an experimental formation, and brought on kids including Winks, Carrol, Onamah and played Alli and Wimmer from the outset against one of the best teams in the world fielding a very strong side.

It was lackluster from both teams, and they had the better class, but by no means were we embarrassed either.

It's clear we need another striker in, it's clear we need an organised settled defence. The only other thing we learnt is Alli looked good, whether good enough to go from the outset alongside Bentaleb remains to be seen, but looked really good against a world class midfield.

I really cannot believe some of the nonsense being spouted just because aspires lost to one of the top clubs in the world in a friendly, playing a lot of players who have not even had a prem game between them. It was a workout, and that was all it was. Get a grip FFS.

It is not about who we play or what the game is.

It is about how you perform and we are performing the exact same. Not trying any different. It is the same mistakes as previously seen.

This nonsense about finishing 5th the gap is so big that we will finish in and around this sort of area. It is like saying Celtic will finish in 7th it won't happen the gulf in class, wages, money, experience all gained from the previous seasons stops this from hapoening.

In the prem anyone can beat anyone on a given day that's the magic but over the course of the season it does not have a huge impact the destination is the same for the likes of us. Between 5th and 7th for us. teams fade away because they have not built up the experience to see the season out. Case and point Southampton last season finishing 7th despite being up with the pace for a long time.

we shall see what happens I want us to win but I cannot see the season going well under poch. *hoping in some weird way this makes us beat United!*

What happened when we were hammering teams in pre-season a few years ago?

We got 2 points from our first 8 games!
