Anyone on here seen this film? What were your thoughts?

I watched it last night and I've got to say, I thought it was utterly brilliant.

What an incredible thinker of a film!

It's absolutely fantastic for keeping you interested and jumping from conclusion to theory to wonder and uncertainty all the way through. A great piece of cinema that tackled everything from challenging the basics of a battle of good VS evil and prince saving the princess, sexism, societal discrimination, human weakness, the power of perception and persuasion and more.

A really top notch thinker of a film, and a rare occurrence where the ending and real story of the film isn't the one you'd expect, but it is the absolute best one it could have had. 10/10 for satisfaction if you get your head around a few basic points after watching.

So has anyone else watched it? What were your thoughts? Also what have been some unexpected gems of films you've seen lately?

In the scale of human intelligence we see the difference between the village idiot and Einstein as a massive gulf. But for a learning system AI, that reaches the intelligence of village idiot, it is likely to have surpassed Einstein by the time the operator has boiled the kettle for a cuppa.

Looks good admin. I remember a while ago you mentioning you were big on robotics and AI. Think we mentioned arks on a space travel related thread I did. That book sounds interesting. Might have to get that. Cheers

I love the idea that the next stage in our evolution is not to evolve further ourselves, but to develop intelligent life, and I do call it life, that is also not burdened by the limitations of our short lifespans and biological drawbacks. That the next stage in human evolution is not the evolution of ourselves, but our technology. The creation of a new species destined to replace ours and go beyond what would ever be possible within human reach. A self sustaining, solar powered AI, with enough resources, could travel space for almost eternity, going from resource point to resource point and indefinitely searching the cosmos.

Looper is fantastic, as is Her. Her can't be classified as a thriller though.
Love such movies. Was a bit disappointed with Jupiter Ascending (although it was nowhere as bad as people were claiming), but expectations were really high too

Loved the film... Thought the casting was great... Cinematography was kubrickesque ... But done well. Story and concepts, superb.

Id like to add my endorsement of Deus Ex the gane to the list
____________

If that's the game I'm thinking of then the trailer for it was awesome. I bought the tune from it!
