Christian Eriksen the Enigma

I find it very perplexing that Christian Eriksen, probably our most technically gifted player, can for long periods of too many games be totally conspicuous by his apparent disappearance. In our first two PL games vs Man Utd, the first twenty minutes, and Stoke the first first half he was involved in practically all our attacks and was pulling the strings as we dominated. However when the momentum changes and we have to tighten up defensively and play on the counter or keep possession he vanishes. I know he has scored some late winners for us in the past but he cannot be expected to be doing that on a regular basis.

The solution to this problem is I believe to give him more responsibility. It seems to me that what we should demand from him is for him to be our go to player when we gain/regain possession, (a la Modric, Fabregas or Da Silva for example), to sort out our platform to attack our opponents. He should be making himself available to whoever is on the ball, he should be demanding the ball and prompting our attacks and dictating the pace of the game. He should be involved when we have the ball as much as possible. Can he play this role? The creative "number ten"/"midfield General" as it were? I think he could but it doesn't seem to be the plan for now or the future for him.

Are we deploying this undoubtedly talented player we have properly? Are we playing him out of position? Am I overrating his potential and ability and expecting too much of him? What do you guys think?

dembele is by far the most gifted footballer we have… but his decision making and mentality are poor.

No doubt Kane can drop deeper at certain times and can put others in but this should be dependent on how the current attack is unfolding otherwise he stays up front as our main man.

Dembele is the best at keeping the ball but not our most talented player. I would have him playing just behind Eriksen centrally and supporting and covering him.

Dembele can't pass or shoot so which renders him average at best. Eriksen is our most talented, or Kane

Kane scored 21 league goals last season, we have no other striker, and some people want him to play behind.... Thin air?

For all his telent Eriksen has no bottle whatsoever. He ducks out of challenges and odes not put in the hard work that you need to as a midfielder in this country.

Yes he has talent but in the premiership you have to earn the right to play and he does not do that. People are fooled by his goals but when our backs are to the wall he is a total waste of space. Exactly the same applies to Chadli and you cannot afford two of your midfield players to go missing when your backs are to the wall. Mason done more than Eriksen yesterday but he got subbed, work that out if you can

Thought it was just me that spotted Eriksen has no heart and bottles challenges. He does a lot of chasing but actually hardly ever wins any tackles. Take his goals away and he is just a passenger, same with Chadli. They lack the intensity to play Poch system and and as the creative hub within the team they need to do more on that front. Kane is feeding off scraps. Our team is young and we really cant afford to carry anyone.
People keep harping on about Stoke being brilliant yesterday but we made Ireland look like Zidane in his prime with no pressure on him whatsoever. Can guarantee he wont play as well again season.

After the most brilliant one sided 1st half I had seen from us in a while to capitulate like we did in the second half was truly disappointing.
