Update:
Tottenham star Erik Lamela’s father confirmed “we are in talks with Inter and would like a return to Italy."
‘Coco’ Lamela has never quite settled in the Premier League since his move from Roma in 2013.
“We are in talks with Inter, so we’re discussing it," Jose Lamela told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I can confirm the rumours are true and the interest for Erik is real. We are waiting for more developments over the next few days.
“We would like a return to Italy and are open to negotiations. It’s true that he gave his best in Italy and that is probably more suited to his characteristics.
“We’ll see what happens over the final few days of the transfer market. We are waiting for news too…
“Erik was very happy in Serie A and had two great years with Roma. We would like a return to Serie A and we appreciate the Inter option."
Sky Sport Italia also claim Inter director of sport Piero Ausilio met with Lamela’s agent today.

Loan of €6 million then €14 million fee thereafter, scoring to Sky Italia and various others.
That's about £15 million, so we'd take a 'hit' of around £14 million ...
If I'm honest I don't think he's worth anywhere near 15m ... Good business for us and Erik

That future fee means nothing, so if he bosses it Juventus will pay more for him

What we paid for Lamela was a total possible outlay of 30m euros, if all add ons and extras are met.
Given that Lamela has been average so far I doubt any add ons will have been triggered, also since we signed him the euro has increased against the pound, and given that most transfers of this size are paid via instalments, we will probably end up paying no more than £18m - £20m for Lamela.
So talking about taking a hit is a bit premature, similarly with Soldado the prices quoted far exceeded what we actually paid, you can not believe everything reported in the sensationalist media.

I agree about the add-ons , but regardless of whether we agreed to pay in installments or not, THFC still have to hand over <insert transfer fee agreed here> to <enter selling club here>. If the transfer fee was £25m then Roma will eventually get £25m from us, regardless of whether its 5 annual payments of £5m, or £1 per week over 25m weeks.

As Billy says though, it depends if we agreed the fee in Euros or £. A Euro fee is now worth a fair bit less than it was when we first agreed it...and I dare say we'll be looking for any fee for him to be paid in £s.

Up until Saturday I was in the "give him time camp" but having witnessed that display I've had it with him now.
Time to cut the loss, he's cack in this league.

I get the Euro / Sterling advantage but my point was more that, regardless of whether we agreed to pay in installments or not, the actual transfer fee (excluding add-ons) will still be paid to the selling club (in this case, Roma) in full. It doesn’t matter if we keep him for 2 years or 5 years, Roma will still get the full amount from us.
It’s funny, a lot of posters were claiming we should give him one more season yet even they have already come around to the fact we should get rid - just 3 games in.
