It is however, after a summer of links to Ramos, Muller, Bale etc, both a rather underwhelming signing and an apparently very expensive one, which isn't a great combination.

I have no sympathy for anyone who is gullible to believe all these links, only do go in to melt down once we buy someone else.

I'm intrigued that we seem to be after someone I hadn't even heard of. Maybe our scouts have been doing their job for a change?

I do agree on that, it does at least make a change from "scouting" people we are all very familiar with.

Must be a great job being a scout for a top club too, spending your life watching games and players, few days down on a boat in Monaco, great fun.

Hearing some saying this is a very unlike United type signing.I totally disagree.This very much a United type signing.Paying a premium on potenital is what we've usaully have always done from Pallister to Ince to Keane to Ronaldo and to Rooney (and many ,many others).

Chico signings came out of nowhere too, though much cheaper.

The game is flooded with cash now though. Potential is now £20m-£50m

Sad but true. Someone like Kane would have cost about £500k when SAF first took over! Nowadays the bidding would start at £40m and Levy would probably laugh at that.

Not just in relation to Martial. Most people here are going through the five stages of grief based on second guessing what deals we will or won't do in the coming hours, which players won't play well enough / would play well but won't get picked over the next ten months, and over our league and CL campaigns, whose utter failure are predetermined.

I wouldn't mind so much if they didn't feel the need to emote about it.
