Well it does what it says on the tin

good or bad?

not seen it mentioned elsewhere

I like concept to be honest, mostly end up standing for large parts of the game anyway

Morning T.

I think the South Bank is too steep as it is to allow safe standing so for this to happen we need:

1) the law to change to allow it.
2) to get to the Prem so that funds are available for stadium redevelopment
3) the Steve Bull to be done
4) the South Bank to be done.

So it will be a long, long time before all the pieces fall into place and we are allowed to do what we do already.

I think clubs like Wolves will be up for this as a stand without seats must be a lot cheaper to build than one with seats. I think a lot of people pandering for this have memories of the great packed terraces of the 70s and the atmosphere that created. But such are the safety issues nowadays that what is being proposed here is nothing like that at all

I don't think it would be any cheaper to build DJ but you might be able to pack a few more into the same space so more income (assuming you can sell the tickets) for the same outlay.

You're right though that (if it ever happens) it'll be a pale imitation of what we used to have. No moving around the stand (you'll still have a designated space) to form choirs or get away from the particularly annoying bloke behind you, no surges and discovering that you're celebrating a goal thirty yards away from where you were when it was scored.
However on the plus side it should come with enough safeguards to ensure incompetent feds don't kill nearly 100 people and then cover it up for two decades.

Wolves ✔ @OfficialWolves
Following a misleading story in a local paper, the club is clarifying its position on the so-called ‘safe standing’ issue.

...........................................
not so dj
uefa regulations mean that the seats are still there but for domestic games are locked upright.
for any international game the seats have to be unlocked and fixed in place.
this is why dortmunds capacity goes down from 80,400 for domestic games to 67,000 for european / international games

Yes I remember the days of standing on the terraces, the not being able to see half the game and people having a pi55 where they stood.....bring it back I say.

Whats the point in us having say the south bank as a standing area when the stand has to be rebuilt, surely it would make more sense to rebuild the stand as a non standing stand.

I stand corrected on the cost issue.

Must admit now it's hard to imagine the old terracing days, swaying down the terraces with every goalmouth incident and then scrambling back before being trampled on. Feels like a nightmare now but great fun as a teenager. All made for fabulous atmosphere

I take it they remove the barriers when they're not required Wolfgang. Sounds like a good idea to me, especially when you think of how much time is spent standing, even when you have a seat.
