Blades v ROVERS

This Saturday we reach another rung of the ladder to success, we hope, when we travel the short distance to Bramall Lane to take on the Blades of Sheffield United.

This game is vitally important to the hopes and aspirations of interim Manager Rob Jones. Rob has applied for the job and is adamant that he wants the job. With the deadline for applications being today the 25th, he desperately needs a win if that is to happen.

As yet we don't know who else will be on the short list for the job, but Dave Penney says he has no intention of coming back as manager. He may at some time come back in a different capacity, but for now, we are graced by his presence in the commentators seat alongside Tom Biltcliffe.

On the subject of Mr Biltcliffe, I was very critical of him a couple of years ago and tried to give him some constructive criticism. That seems to have worked as his commentary now is on a par with anyone on BBC local radio. Just one more point, please stop saying " It must be said", as often as you do.

Anyway back to the game, hopefully, Curtis Main will be taking a back seat with Messers Williams ( he is fit) and N'Guesson leading the line from the off with new loan signing Keshi Anderson from Crystal Palace on the bench and ready to come on in the second half. Unfortunately Nathen Tyson has suffered a small setback in his recovery so the speed of Anderson is something we need.

Andy Butler will be returning to Bramall Lane where he spent a very short time and Billy Sharp will be facing his former employers when he leads the attack for the Blades, his boyhood team.

We can expect a typical local Derby which the players should be wanting to win if THEY want the Corporal to get the job on a full time basis. It certainly looks like being a good 'un as the Blades have been less than stellar at home and of course we all know how our season has started and how we need to get amongst the goals and wins to get out of the bottom three.

I will not be able to do a thread for next weeks games on Tuesday and Saturday as we fly out to Hawaii on Monday morning. Perhaps you could do something Azza or how about you Donaldo?

Enjoy the Game Come on you ROVERS!!!!!!!!

We need a new drawing board, we can't keep going back to the same one.

I really don't know NY.
Going to have a couple before the Rugby, looking forward to that. Hopefully that will cheer me up.
Have a good week

That's it, 3-1 to Sheffield United things are not looking good for us.

Yankee, well done for keeping the posts going.
I was helping the sister in law move house this afternoon but was keeping in touch via the radio.
It sounded like we started the game very well but according to the radio lads it all changed after Gary Mac got sent off.
They said it was a (another) bad decision.

The way things are going kind of excuse Pd a bit because under Jones things are much the same.
I am finding it hard to understand how such a talented bunch of players cant get it right.
It now seems imperative that we sign a right back and it also looks like Jones will have to play in the next 2 or 3 games because there is no way that ATS can play centre back.

Bad decision Hound, but then again they could say the same about having a penalty ruled out, not the one for diving. In the end they equalise each other out.

By the way, Ivanovic of Chelsea was booked for what looked to be similar to McKenzie's red card. For good or bad we need to get consistency, but that will never happen with human beings making the decisions in split seconds and machines taking ages for slowmo replays.

Just listened to Rob Jones after the game. He was incensed about the poor performance of the team, he made no excuses at all. When asked about the sending off all he said was he thought McKenzie was looking at the ball and wouldn't have seen their player. He said he would have to look at the video.

He says he has had words in the dressing room, which will stay in the dressing room about the stupid mistakes they made.

When asked if he expected a response on Tuesday, he said " No! I DEMAND a response.". He also said the games he is in charge of have nothing to do with his application for the job. He said he was in a privileged position and it was about taking the club forward not him personally.

To be fair a totally different response than we would have got from PD, he would have been looking for the positives. Jones said there was only one, how Keshi Anderson played, nothing else.
