Gradual Rather Than Sudden Decline of Form?

In hindsight I believe our decline of form can be traced back to the second-half of last season, where we were narrowly winning points to maintain our lead in the PL. What got us through what we thought was a bad patch, and strategic planning by Jose was our defence playing fantastically under the influence of Terry (due to the lack of cover provided by our two midfielders) and Hazard carrying our attack. Of course, now we have neither we are struggling to win games.

I think we have become too predictable in how we attack, we make it too easy for the opposition to defend against us and I believe our full-backs not attacking, or not attacking effectively in the case of Ivanovic is a major factor in this. If you look at how City break-down teams and their general style of play it is heavily involved around their two full-backs.

Onto the changes that Jose should make. I believe Terry should be starting regularly again to at least try and organise the team while we're playing. The blatantly obvious decision of dropping both Ivanovic and Fabregas is overdue. They both have their uses in individual games however they should not be first team regulars anymore. Rahman and Ramires should be starting instead, with Loftus-Cheek competing with Ramires until Mourinho thinks he is able to play regularly. Willian is a must as well.

Hopefully Jose can wake up and realise what changes we need to make otherwise the Southampton result won't be pretty.

Agreed.

I think Jose has lost the dressing or at least some of it, Ivanovic may be one of the only players he hasn't lost and that's why he's still starting. Just my theory though.

so the solution

Jose sells all the players
or jose goes

Or we keep going and going until we get to the end of the season and we are 6th and in danger of going out of Europe altogether

roman will see sense, hes got a stadium to pay for and our finances will be severely dented if we don't make CL
lose on Saturday and jose will be gone

When people say we didn't refresh the squad And that's why we are slacking they need to realise we've brought in Begovic, Falcao, Djilobodji, Pedro, Rahman and blooded through some youngsters. So we can't use that excuse. That's more than we brought in last summer and we won the league and cup.

Losing Cech and Drogba in the same window was a big factor IMO. Them two with Terry kept the dressing room in line and brought a togetherness to the group. That's now gone.

If finances are your concern then sacking Jose right now would be a terrible decision financially speaking.

We'd have to pay off his contract which would be up to around £30 million and then we'd have to pay for a new manager which would be at least £15 million, probably more.

It would make much more sense to give Jose some time to see if he can turn round our fortunes in the League and seeing he's one of the very best in the business there is every reason to assume he will.

In our last 5 matches we've won 3, drawn 1 and lost 1. Our 1 loss occurred at a place where very very few teams win. In fact Porto haven't even conceded a home goal in the League in 2015 just to put things in perspective.
