Meggy has just announced that he dosnt expect anyymore signings so that means Ryan Lowe is his last signing and that talks have ended with Lua Lua.
Personally im pleased with the Lowe signing, started this season very well (7 in all cometitions and 27 last season). I just hope that our wingers and midfeild can give him the service and now Meggy finally has options up top, who would your first choice pairing be once COG gets fit again?
Personally I think Morrison wont get a look in the first team now Lowe has arrived and will find himself even further down the order once GOC gets fit again. He has had a perfect oportunity to hold onto his place with the shortage of strikers available but his goal return hasnt been good enough. Yes he may hold the ball up well but we need a strike force that will score every week to take us up.
So I think with Madine hitting a good vain of form of late and with Lowe brought in to score goals which he has done over the last couple of seasons those will be my pairing but I just hope they hit it off.
So it looks like our transfer business has been concluded till January at least unless we have a couple of players out injured and we hit the loan market but it seems Meggy has his squad complete now and to be fair our squad looks a hell of a lot more balanced than last season.
Now...Lets bring on Charlton

Quality??? On what basis?
I'm not even a boo boy but it amazes me when we say that things are rosey. There are some obvious decisions been made that are directed by the chairman and not the manager and when that happens it usually ends in disaster.
If we compare the squad to the end of last seasons then tell me how we are stronger, Jones and Baath already here last season. we have lost Mellor, alongwith numerous others, it looks more and more likely that Beevers is leaving to be replaced by a loanee that Megson knows nothing about. We sign a 33 yr old striker that was 7th or 8th choice. Coke looks to be going on loan.
What annoys me though is the contradictions of GM and MM, during the close season we were to only buy British, cue Semedo and the new CH, also we were not going to get any loanees..................................

Fools Golden, how can you say that our current first team is worse than the one that ended last season!!!
The midfield for starters is completely different and far better. FFS, we had JOC, Potter, Miller, Sedgwick and Teale, even our academy side looks better than that lot!! Semedo, Prutton, Lines, Marshall are far better.
As for Mellor, he was inconsistent at best and tended to score in bunches. He scored 13 league goals last year, Madine has three already and Lowe and COG will score more than mellor.

Individually they will each score more than 20 goals a season? COG won't even play 20 goals this season St Charles.
Granted Prutton and Semedo have started ok but we still have JOC and lost Coke as well as JJ being constantly injured. We have a loanee winger, we don;t have a side that would be succesful in the Championship if we were to get up.
I am starting to sound negative which I don;t wish to be, I just dont think its as good as folk make out (though I am grateful of MM saving the clubb but he needs to remember he is the chairman not the manager)

From what I've seen so far this season, I think we have better players but we're yet to look like a force that will challenge the top 6. Maybe Charlton away is the challenge we need to start our away campaign and prove all of us doubters wrong. Or maybe a 5-0 pasting will confirm our worst fears. I'm not confident in Megoos approach to away games at all.

Er.. How can you say that last seasons squad (back end of last season) is stonger than what we have now??? We swapped Spurr for Bennett who's far better at LB, Semedo & Jesus for Miller & Potter, Marshall for Teale and your saying we have a less quality side there than last seasons.....
Also on the subject of Mellor, he may have been our top scorer but he was too inconsistant, it was only coz he scored a couple of hat tricks and then 1 in sumat like 5 or 6, plus he only got about 12 league goals, the rest was in the "tin pot cup" & F.A. so Im not at all bothered about him not coming back to be honest

Mellor isn't all that and i'm glad he's not come back.
This season he has played 6 games and none of these have been as a sub and he's got 1 goal.

I'd have Mellor back tomorrow if we could do the deal.
He was very good for us last season & he scored 20 goals for us in just over half a season.
The argument that some were hat-tricks, they came in bunches, cups or whatever etc is laughable.
So what? If he's not doing the business or going through a dry spell then we have other strikers who come in to score their share of goals.
He would improve the squad, simple as. Why the 'ell wouldn't anyone want that!

Never said he wouldnt improve us and yes it would have been nice for him to return but we have 3 other good strikers in Madine (whos found his feet here at last it seems) COG will come good once fit again adn Lowe has shown over the last 2 seasons how prolific he is plus he has 7 already, Mellors a very good player when he wants to be be and shows that he can score at this level but im not crying that he's not come back either, i'll take him or leave him IMHO!!
