Comebacks and Mckay

Dundee United went a goal down today and failed to win. The last time United won a league game after going behind was the 15th of March 2014; 64 games ago. That was so long ago that at the time Jackie McNamara was still regarded as a good manager (seriously).

Still, at least a draw is something. It was the 24th of February 2015 since we got a point from a losing position. 20 losses in between that game and today's. 20 games where the result was decided by the first goal. 20 games where the fans may as well have gone home.
By contrast, United have thrown away 22 points from winning/drawing positions since then, 29 games ago.
In that time, United have only earned 19 points. We've actually chucked away more points than we've earned.

On the striking front, Billy Mckay scored his seventh league goal of the season for United; his fourth penalty.
The last time anyone other than Billy Mckay scored for United was on the 29th of August (2015, thankfully).
For those keeping up, that's 3 goals from open play in 11 games.
Can anything sum up our total lack of creativity any more than that?

... And no, I didn't mistitle this by putting it in the Scottish League.

Still cant decide if todays result was good or bad.

Good points, we didn't get beat and got a point. Came from behind and managed to get something out the game.

Bad points, no goal from open play. No goal from anyone but MacKay. We failed to beat (or create a goal) a team that shipped 5 (five) to Partick last week, and they only had 10 men for most of the game. Our players scored more against Killie last week than this!!

I'm leaning towards bad

"Our players scored more against Killie last week than this!!"

I didn't even think of that. That's just depressing.

Yep, we're in a bad way. 3 big games coming up ending with Motherwell at home on boxing day. For me we simply have to turn the corner by then, as we have a tough run of games after that. Hearts and Dundee away, then Celtic and Aberdeen at home I think.

We simply must be beat Partick this weekend..........

We have to........

I think the positive spin to try to put on it is that it can be difficult playing against ten men. Also let's not forget that the last time we played against ten meant in Perth we went on to lose two one. I'll take the point, especially from that stupid plastic pitch, but it would have been nice to get three points on the board just to even hint at a bit of pressure on Motherwell since they weren't playing. I listened to the match on the radio, McKay missed another one on one with the 'keeper, sometimes it's just not your day. We haven't had "our day" since 01/01/15 it seems.
