HasJoseMourinhorunoutofideas?

http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2015/dec/06/jose-mourinho-chelsea-champions-relegation-fight

Good summary by Michael Cox on our situation. Other good points in the article as well however I had to shorten it before it turned into a hafistylepost.

"When absolutely everything has fallen apart, it can’t realistically be about technical or tactical weaknesses – it hints at an overriding problem in terms of fitness or psychology. It is probably a combination of the two and the pattern throughout Mourinho’s career of his teams falling away in the third season is clear. When unveiled at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2013, he correctly pointed out that his success came “usually in the second season" and he has triumphed in his sophomore campaign at Porto, Inter, Real Madrid and now in both spells at Chelsea.

But he failed to explain that he has never won a title in a third year – at Porto and Inter he had already departed for bigger clubs, at Real and both spells at Chelsea his side have simply underperformed.

The theory that Chelsea’s players simply become bored of Mourinho’s antics is clearly nothing new, but there is also an argument his players are tired physically. When Mourinho’s defences are at their meanest, it’s usually because he has kept the same unit intact and very reluctantly rotated.

“Part of our inconsistency is individual inconsistency," Mourinho said after Saturday’s defeat, complaining that “some players, you don’t know when they’re performing really well, and when their performance is below [the required] level."

Mourinho then declared that he is no longer setting a target for Chelsea’s final league position, admitting the top four may now be out of reach. There is no reason to think otherwise: Chelsea have improved slightly from a couple of months ago, but Mourinho appears unable to identify the root cause of Chelsea’s problems, so cannot hope to oversee a dramatic improvement.

Another manager might seek to write off this campaign and start building for next season, but then Mourinho has never got more than six league games into a fourth campaign. Increasingly, it feels like he has simply run out of ideas."

I think the last point will be important if Mourinho is to last the season for us. Has to start looking to rebuild some areas of the team now.

Jose's only ever had one idea - the US vs them everyone is against us mentality. That can only work for so long Jose appears to have lost the players as they have most likely seen through the idiotic acts which Jose has taken in order to persist persisting with this mentality

It's not exactly idiotic if it works.

In the 2006/2007 season the only reason did not win the title was down to injuries to key players and the emergence of Ronaldo.........there was no dip in performance.

He left Porto to go to Chelsea and Inter to go to Madrid...it had nothing to do with 3rd season factor..........this 3rd season media invention is just total and utter rubbish........

But has he run out of ideas,,,,,,,,,i would say football has changed and he has failed to adapt, so yes it looks like he may have, but it took 12 or 13 years for this to happen.
