Dougie

As it is nearly Christmas, I think it is a good time to see everyone's views on Dougie. Seeing as many said wait until Christmas til i make a decision I thought now would be a good time to voice them.

I have purposefully posted this before the next two home game as I thought a more rounded opinion may be given.

Anyway, after a very difficult start to a season which very nearly ended in Dougie being sacked bar the win against Derby, Forest have finally just started to hopefully turn a corner and hopefully we can look forward to a bit more stability and maybe even some quiet optimism for the next half of the season.

Personally I think Dougie has done a good job under very difficult circumstances which I think now after our bad run we probably understand more then when we were in it. As we were saying however during that run, apart from the Bristol City game we were actually playing pretty well but yet could not score. You could clearly see the players were behind Dougie and I think he is the first person ( apart from Pearce) since Billy who actually understands what it is to be the Nottingham Forest manager.

Hopefully after the bad run we can now kick on and have a good second half to the season with hopefully Assombolonga, Fryatt, Cohen and maybe even Reid coming back and if it doesn't happen this year which will most likely happen then at least we can have some optimism next season with a manager at the helm who would be the first to survive a full season under Fawaz

Thought's?

Of course, you Muppets, DF has done a great job and with very little support from you, so-called, fans.

Get in and support the club. Win as many as you can except the one v Derby. On that one a Bristol City - like drubbing would be fine. Just don't cask him as a result.

Forest are pretty much where I expected them to be at this stage. Glad the trigger finger was relaxed and DF has been able to get on and develop the team fairly positively. I think a push into the top ten is achievable, whether any further can be achieved is asking a lot.

Anyone who doesn't know what NLN's fan club is like would think that we'd been chanting for the manager to go, making banners and protesting. Which is why I made the comment for him to clear off earlier.

It seems to be one excuse after another to bore us with his droll, I guess it's because he's not really like by his own fans or anyone really so makes rubbish comments about a soft spot, even though he'd apparently want his favourite manager to come in at Forest

Anyway, senile old fools apart......................

Dougie wasn't a manager anyone really got excited about at the start, also got fairly mixed review from previous clubs and I don't think he's yet fully proved himself. On the surface it appears that he is working in very difficult circumstances as he has appeared to elsewhere, and at a couple of points appeared to be cracking a little bit.

I can fully understand though why an element of our fans were talking of change given the run and the fact we was getting very close to the bottom two, in fact NLN's fan club stated that it is fact we're heading down this season. I think fans of any club would have been in discussions about the manager on these sorts of forums in that case.

Fawaz has surprised many by holding off though, and to be honest I doubt he'd be able to do much better in recruitment due to the view of the clubs running from the outside. There is talk of top half of the table, even a push for playoffs when Britt returns but for me; anything we can get out of BA, CC, MF and co this season will be regarding as a bonus not an expectation. For me, we ride out this season and I'd be happy with not in real danger of being in relegation battle and finishing mid table.

I don't have huge hope/expectations for our progress until something happens with the current ownership, whether that be experienced people able to run things day to day, or being put up for other interested parties to make an offer.

I think a lot of fans are underestimating Dougies achievement in keeping us in mid table [ish] so far.

After selling Antonio we could easily have been in the bottom three, or bottom. Fortunately there are at least two pretty poor teams down there this year.

We need to remember that neither Nelson, nor Ryan Mendes speak very good English and were not even at the club when the season started. Never mind preseason.

Anything above 10th will be a good finish. If either Assombalonga, Fryatt come back scoring, then perhaps sixth at a pinch.

Regarding Fawaz's managers and his trigger finger.....

* Cotterill - was that FAH or the owners as a whole, don't forget Omar was in charge first

* SOD - harsh, our ambition went to promotion ASAP from a three year build and I suspect that had a hand

* McLeish - recommended by Fergie apparently, was stuff in the press of him wanting to walk 2-3 times before he was sacked.

* Davies - had to go, had over a year and for off the field reasons as much as on it and there is rumours he was sacked for gross misconduct

* Brazil - only ever temporary

* Pearce - although some did want him gone this time (and earlier) last season, he lasted a bit longer than some thought and as the run didn't appear to be improving and we was getting closer to the bottom; wasn't entirely surprised

For me, it's not necessarily the itchy trigger finger that is the problem. Yes, we want stability but it's the recruitment and politics around the club as much as anything that has, and is a problem. There is a few things come up under DF's tenure that suggests life is being made harder than it needs to be. That is just not going away whoever is in charge.

Pearce also did a lot of work in the background and to try to bring the academy closer to the club, pull the club together as a whole and build a scouting structure from pretty much nothing. I gather than when Pearce went there was a fair amount of clearing the decks by the powers that be, so a lot of that was undone and DF had to start again somewhat.

Two of the staff that came in/after DF have already left! We've had a bit of reshuffle this week to replace the second one.

Good points, Ray. DF has done a good job despite the club politics. Agree that I don't see much changing under the current regime without some much needed impetus and organisation.

wait until Christmas to discuss Dougie's future at our club......... are you having a laugh!

it gets discussed every couple of weeks

That's true Basingstoke but Christmas was the big marker everyone was talking about in the summer so now the bad run is hopefully over and a bit of stability is at the club for the moment, I thought it was a good time to see a more rounded view from everyone.

The more restrained fans did say at the start of the season to judge DF at Christmas to be fair.
