1St and 3Rd goals were poor keeping that Szczesney would have got slaughtered for.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Our defence played the offside trap for the first goal, leaving Cech exposed to the initial shot. He managed to get to it but the zonal defence left Firmino free for his shot.
The defence also left him exposed and blind for the 3rd goal. He only saw it when it was too late.

1St goal he parried it straight to the striker, and then beaten at his near post on the rebound. 3Rd goal as just weak wrists. Doesn't matter if the defence was poor, he is there to mask over our poor defending. Hes done that pretty much all season. Tonight he didn't

How did Cech keep the game respectable? Didn't have too much to do other than the goals (which he could have done better on), unless I'm forgetting something?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He did well to keep most of Liverpool's 11 shots on target out.
He was also the only player with the presence of mind to run the clock towards the end.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A lot of those shots were straightforward. As I said, didn't have much to do, other than the goals which Bats explained he could have done better on.

That's rather unfair. He isn't Superman you know.
Not only did Kos completely lose his man, he also left Cech unsighted for Firmino's follow up shot for the first goal.
The oldest rule in the book is to dash out for the offside trap when you've lost your man.

Cech has been absolutely massive for us in goal, but that is no excuse for schoolboy defending.
Firmino's only 5 foot 10 and he was getting free headers FFS.

That doesn't mean Cech deserves an 8 though.
Yeah the defence were all over the place, forced into mistakes by Klopp's system, but you're acting as if Cech bailed us out of the World's Greatest Attacking Display By Firmino, Lallana, Henderson etc.

A lot of the keeper's work goes unnoticed. He's supposed to be the disruptor, when you're under the cosh. Always offering an outlet when Per overcooked a square pass. Slowing down the game by running the clock. Fantastic distribution to Giroud despite the lack of support from the wings. A reassuring presence even after the c*ck ups.
We'd have been 5 or 6 down with any other keeper.

Did what was expected of him in an away game. I'm feeling generous tonight. Walcott's lucky he got a 3.
