Yes I know it's his first game today but on first impressions he doesn't seem the type that could sit in front of the defence and sheld them, well especially in the prem. I know he is also a box to box type but we need someone to challenge Coq.
He seems tidy on the ball and always found space but also on the odd occasion he was easily out muscled off the ball.
Wenger has obviously seen him in training for him to come out with comments saying that he isn't a "monster" and suggesting that he may need to adjust to the power of the league.
So I'm just a bit baffled as to what type of player Wenger has brought in. I doubt he is going to replace the likes of Cazorla, Wilshere and Ramsey and Coq will still be first choice as DM
Yes he strengthens the squad considering Flamini was the alternative to Coq but has Wenger missed the trick once again by not investing more heavily on a player that would seriously challenge the likes of Coq and co.
I could be wrong and Elneny could turn out to be a master stroke and I hope that is the case but I am just slightly concerned Wenger went for a cheaper options just to beef up the squad due to the injuries.
Elneny doesn't seem to be a DM

Elneny does look a bit lightweight, but yes, it's very early days.

One game, can't judge him on that.
I imagine Wenger saw that he's looking a little lightweight in training which is why he put him alongside Coq rather than Arteta.
Plus playing directly alongside Coq of course he's going to be more box to box. I'm sure he has it in him to play a more defensive role if necessary

Why would Wenger play 2 sitting DM against Burnley at home?
Wenger said he can also play the b2b role so I guess that was his instruction in the absence of Ramsey.

Realistically flamini arteta and rosicky are all likely to move on at the end of the season so our midfiel is going to need a revamp. Iwobi has had a couple of impressive performances and may take rosickys place in the squad, so realistically we need 2 cms still and elneny is a yound player from a lesser league. He will be happy to be a squad player for a year or so whichh isnt a bad thing for our squad.

He's replacement for Flamini I think. He maybe lightweight, but I think the aim will be to get him stronger to eventually play DM

A season late with that; should've shipped him in the summer and bought his replacement then. He has greatly contributed to lost points over the last month.
