With the news that Dembele will be loaned back to Fulham, i think its clear that we won't be bringing in a striker this window.
BTW, Dembele signing had to be done now, or we would have lost him to a club abroad on a pre contract as he has only 6 month left on his deal - with Juve and Monaco reportedly sniffing around him. Excellent deal similar to the Alli signing, and am disappointed that certain fans have labelled it a pointless signing, struggling to understand that football goes on for more than just the next 4 months.
Anyway, lots of questions being asked about leaving ourselves short in the striker department, but although my personal preference would be to bring in another recognised striker, i agree with Poch that it has to be the right striker, not anyone. if poch doesn't rate him, he won't play (see the way fazio and townsend dropped out the scene).
The usual suspects will have their same lazy argument about it being Levy not backing Poch - may have been true with previous managers, but i get the impression that Levy will back Poch with whatever he wants within reason, and it is Poch who is wary about exactly who he brings in - he seems to have gone right off Berahino, which isn't surprising, given the attitude of Berahino this summer, not to mention the nonsense overpricing of him by their clown of a chairman.
Poch has mentioned more than once about how signing Osvaldo in Jan at southampton disrupted things in the dressing room, and they went on to have a poor second half of the season and i like to see that he is wary of that as it shows he learns from mistakes.
The bottom line in my opinion is that if Poch says we have enough cover for Kane (i assume he means Chadli, Son, and Njie) as alternatives, then he has done more than enough so far at this club for all of us to back him on that decision.
Don's usual tantrum article will come, and be unreasonable as usual, but i would like to think the rest of us are mature enough to back poch on his decision (whatever happens in the rest of the window), and then when the end of the season comes we can make a judgement on whether it was right or wrong.
i think the majority of fans agree with this way of thinking, but i patiently await the shiiitstorm that will be caused by others who want a shiny new player every time.
anyway, poch has done enough to get all our trust, so whatever happens, as long as poch is happy with it, then so am i, and all spurs fans should be too
We Have To Back Poch On This

If this Dembele has been loaned back as reported, I'm hoping we hijack this berahino deal. Hope is always the case with levy and spurs though as I certainly don't think we will but I still hold that small hope

"I don't understand the 'Berahino has attitude' brigade"
Erm, probably has something to do with the comments Pulis made about a month ago perhaps?

"he's also English will would help with the overall chemistry with Kane, Alli, Dier etc."
What does that have to do with anything? Do all English players like each other and automatically play well together?

Don't be silly, of course it helps. They will have more in common and bond outside of the pitch which helps the overall spirit of the team.

hope we don't unless poch wants him - which there is no evidence of at the moment.

And that article proves nothing. Ive already explained why he was upset and that it had a knock on affect.

Just like it did with Andy Cole and Teddy Sheringham?
Pure conjecture. Sounds as though you're insinuating players from different countries can't get along and that we have a Belgian clique within our club who don't mix with the others?
Suarez, Messi and Neymar get along like best friends apparently, despite their countries being rivals, so what happened there exactly?

If you don't understand how people growing up in the same generation, same country, sharing the same activities and then possibly playing for the same club and country are not more than likely to get on together then discussing this with you is pointless and time wasting.
When Spain won the world cup alot of the players were from Barcelona and Madrid. They form partnerships and are more likely to get on (obviously there will be disputes).
Same with Germany winning it, majority of players where from Bayern and Dortmund.

If that's the case, why were there always cliques in the England squad back in the 90's? United boys sat with each other, as did the Liverpool boys etc? Weren't they all from the same generation? Same country?
You honestly believe that Spain won the World Cup purely because they had plenty of Barca and Real Madrid players? Of course it was, because they'd never had plenty of Barca and Madrid players in the squad before had they? The issue with the Spain squad previously HAD been the relations between the two clubs, Aragones was the one who saw an end to the cliques and got them to gel, and it was that reason why Xavi, Puyol, Casillas and Del Bosque were worried about the damage Mourinho was doing to the harmony.

Pochetinno has that same character. He gels players together and creates a harmony.
Between having Poch, the current spirit and the players we have then yes Berahino being young and English does contribute positively.
There are many more factors involved too but were not having a full on debate of psychology.
And who said I think they won it purely because of that, its a contributing factor. You are trying to put words into my mouth and its failing. Just give it up, not really bothered here. No-one is going to change their opinion and there wont be an end to this otherwise.

I wasn't attempting to have a debate on psychology until you implied that buying loads of players from the same country means they'll get along well and succeed.
