De Gea replacement

So with it looking likely that we will be without CV football next season it looks inevitable that De Gea will be on his way to Madrid in the summer. Who's your first choice to replace him? There have been a number of names being thrown about including Navas, Handanovic, Lloris and Butland.

I know in the summer Navas was included in the deal for De Gea and has been pretty good this season but his height would worry me. I'd love us to bring in Donnarumma from Milan but having a 16 year old replace the best keeper on the world probably isn't ideal.

So who do you want if De Gea does want out?

Popular myth peddled by Liverpool fans that the clause wasn't met even though it clearly was
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's never been a myth

Everyone involved from the PFA lawyers to our owners confirmed that Suarez's contract was dog tuurd and complete unenforceable.

He's now the poster child for how not to write a release clause.

It's not something that makes liverpool or other clubs look better or worse so there's no banter angle or agenda.

It's an isolated event on comically bad contract writing is all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Either way, thank god Arsenal didn't buy Suarez

I see it as inevitable.

And if u think he signed a new contract without a release clause then..........

-------------------------------------

Inevitable as in there's absolutely no conceivable way he could stay at the club? What if something major changes between now and July? What if Jose comes in and has £300 million to spend and DDG finds he has a great rapport with the man and buys into his vision? What if we win the Europa League and end the season on a high? What if Real aren't allowed to do any transfer business and he doesn't fancy any other move just yet?

I'm not saying it's at all unlikely that DDG will move. I just find it weird how fatalistic some people are. Things are going badly so you can't imagine anything but things getting even worse and staying that way forever. I bet City fans are glad the people running their club didn't have such modest ambition when they had money to burn but a number of teams above them with superior squads. Don't we even aspire to significantly improve? Look what Leicester have done in the last 12 months from a much lowlier starting point than we're in now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Let's not confuse what fans say on here with what they would do if they were in charge of Manchester United. If people are fatalistic on here it is because there is nothing they can do, for instance, to stop De Gea leaving.

Of course he might stay, and we all hope he does. But if you add up all the reasons why he might leave and then compare them with reasons why he might stay, one side looks far more convincing than the other. That's all people are saying here. It doesn't make them lesser fans or weaker, less ambitious human beings.

2 points.

1) SLM, to whom I was primarily responding, seemed to be saying he wants DDG to leave and win something at another club.
2) Aside from that I accept that most people are talking about probability rather than wishes. That said, I take issue with the 'inevitable'. I'd go with 'quite likely'.

I would go with the 'it is possible'.

Take your United hat off for a sec.

De Gea and Neuer are the Messi and Ronaldo of GK's.

I want DDG to win things playing for a good team like he had in his first 2 years here.

3 years on and he's not a CL regular. Let's be fair here, let him go and win the CL 2 or 3 times and possibly cement his position as one of the best GK's ever.

Rather than live the recurring dream of United spending £200m every summer and not coming close.

I think DDG will go but I'd never want him to go for his own sake. If I could I'd tie him to OT

...........

Why would a United fan take his United hat off? Idiotic statement that one.

No United fan would want DDG to leave so that he can win trophies with another club.
