Pellegrini

Hello.

Not that Wenger should definitely leave in the summer, but if he did fail to win the league to Leicester or Spurs and decided to walk away or was sacked, would you take Pellegrini as his replacement?

I don't think he's done an amazing job at City but you can't really argue with his trophy haul, particuarly if he wins the league this year, but like Wenger I do think he is a manager who suits the underdog rather than a team like City who, being under the pressure of having to be title contenders year in year out, are forced to buy overpriced average players like Mangala and Bony rather than wait for the right players to become available like Wenger does, even if it is detrimental in the short term

His style of football also fits in very well with how we like to play (not that we manage it much these days), possession based football with fluid attacks based around technically talented players patiently creating chances.

His weaknesses are also quite similar to Wenger's in that he's not a great tactician and too often, particuarly early on in his City career, has been far too naive away from home, but he's improved a lot in that respect - haven't seen him play his favoured 4-4-2 in a while.

Not only that, but in general I like him - a nice guy, very classy, not interested in mind games or mouting off to the press, and would fit in nicely at Arsenal.

Wenger I would like to see go upstairs and operate in the David Dein role, taking as much responsbility around football matters away from Gazidis as possible, who's got a smart mouth but utterly clueless about the sport and our fans.

Interested to get City fans thoughts, too.

Wouldn't be against Pellegrini at Arsenal. Wouldn't be massively for him either.

I'd be really interested to see what Loew could do for us though. Let's face it, with the tv money about to start pouring in, it's the perfect time to take a risk. Making a mistake in a new manager is not exactly gonna hit us financially the same way it would've done in the past.

This season seems to be unfolding in the same old way. Wenger helping inspire the players' concept of clutching defeat from the jaws of victory to a whole new level. If we don't actually win the league - which seems improbable at the moment - I just can't see what the point of giving him another season. It's not as if we even have a raft of youngsters chomping at the bit, that need his guidance.

Whether he wins the title or not this time round, the main reason for keeping him on after his current contract ends is fear. And the only way to beat fear is to confront it head on.

There... your life lesson for the day, chaps

I dont see Pell staying in England myself.
Arsenal really missed a trick with the way they treated Vierra. Not sure if AW was behind this?

Not sure, surprising he didn't come back to be honest, because he left on relatively good terms and is by far the best leader Wenger ever signed.

But didn't City have him contracted as a player and then moved him onto the coaching team? So it might have been that, or there might be some truth to Wenger not really wanting to bring anyone into the club who might challenge the status quo!

We had the lure of Mancini at the time and the long term vision. He's made the transition to coaching nicely with our EDS and I believe after success (hopefully) at NYC will be a natural successor to Pep.
Pretty sure if Arsenal had been able to put a decent believable counter offer he would have progressed with you

Yeah I think he'll do well.

Obviously a brilliant leader on the pitch, and combine that with listening to how he talks about football and his views seems to have a really good understanding of the game - both of those will set him for success.

We have Henry doing his coaching badges at Arsenal, but not sure - nice guy, incredible footballer, but doesn't strike me as a natural manager. Wasn't a great captain for us, either.

There's something about Henry that makes me think that he will not make a good manager, the same goes with Giggs.

Henry is too nice I think, and when he does criticise you can see his heart is not really in it.

Giggs is ruthless - just ask his brother
