Got it tactically wrong

Over both legs PSG were the superior team but we let ourselves down with our negative tactics.

We dropped back far too much and let them play with the ball virtually unopposed until they reached our penalty area.
We might have got away with that in days gone by but not with this team and especially not with a makeshift defence.

The only time we looked good in the tie was in the last 20-25 minutes of first half when we were pressing high up the pitch, not letting them settle on the ball, allowing our full-backs to push forward. They were struggling to cope with us. Thats how we need to be playing.
So what did we do second half? We dropped off again and invited them on.

The real disappointment in the end was how meekly we went out. When we go out we are usually always in the tie, this time but for a brief period we were never in it.

The only mistake was not playing better and not scoring more goals and not conceding as many. Simple mistakes. Other than that didn't do much wrong.

Can't deny that, we made the basic footballing error of allowing PSG to score more goals than we did.

Tactically wrong or not, we were outplayed. This was a PSG team without IMO their best player (Verratti) last season they also dominated us despite having a man less.

If we have aspirations to be challenging in Europe for the next 5 years we need a better midfield for starters. Mikel does a job but let's be honest he isn't good enough. Fabregas is quality but he is pushed off the ball so easily it's ridiculous. We look unbalanced too.

Doesn't matter if we got it wrong or not.......PSG have been better than us for the past two years and bar a shock were always going to win this tie..............Chelsea fans need to wake up accept that actually we do not have a particularly good team...............The league table does not lie!

We have to be honest, it is going to take a long time to get a team good enough to win the title and seriously challenge in the CL again. The best we can hope for is 3 years from now in my view and that actually feels optimistic. Sorry to say it, but we are entering the Liverpool era.

Yep.. 10 years back we had the pick of Europe's top talent and it showed in Europe where our performances right from the off were semi final/final level. Now we're 2 tiers below that it's showing definitely. PSG now are like what we were at the start of Romans reign. Ready and ripe for champions league success. They just need that bit of luck to win it.

I didn't even have a reaction to that last night because the players give me no hope. Worst team we have had since the early 90s. Atleast Spurs and the Scouse get rid of their deadwood so why don't we??!

Yup agree with this and Biggish's comments that this group of players just aren't good enough and there must be some big changes in player personnel this summer.

Midfield especially is an area where lots of change is required and I'm talking about both CM and AM.

If these changes aren't made this summer then simply expect more mediocrity and lack of CL football in future seasons beyond just next.
