Europa question

If a team gets in the final against another team who have qualified already for the CL in their domestic league and get beat from the qualified team in the final do the beaten finalists get the CL place up for grabs?

Disappears. As someone said, one less qualifier somewhere.

I said that!

Apologies.

As my long time friend and former lover, CEGGY, correctly pointed out, they will just lose a pre qualifying game and elevate a team upwards.

The qualifying spot goes to the country not the losing finalist, so if Dortmund get CL thru the League and beat us in the EL final, an extra spot would go to the next best team in Germany.

In other words we have to win it.

No , that is not how it works at all.
If Dortmûnd win the Europa and finish second then Germany would just get their 4 CL teams.

If, for example, Liverpool and Man City win the EL and CL but both finish outside the top 4 then the 4th placed team would miss out on Europa - due to a maximum of 5 teams from one country.

i think in that case 2nd team in EPL may need to play the ply off, why other league team should suffer

Europa League winners would go in play-offs.
