Sorry to hear about your injury mate, I don't have any tips to recover from a broken leg as such but ive recovered from tearing all but one ligament in my ankle and all off the bone, my ankle was at a right angle and I was on crutches for about the same time you will be.
I've also torn my Achilles tendon and again was on crutches for a long time, and on both occasions it was the muscles and ligaments around the injury that needed strengthening. My advice would be to get stretchy elastic and use it regularly and push yourself through the pain but don't over do it, you have to be careful but the quicker you can strengthen the muscles and ligaments the quicker you'll be back. Then it's the mental side you have to deal with, going in for your first challenge when you're back has to be fully committed, bottle it and you'll end up getting injured again.
Fractured bones generally heal well and if anything are better than ligament damage because the lasting affects aren't there. I still have problems with my ankles now and in the cold they hurt and any uneven ground seems to get me so I have to strap them to keep them more secure. I found this for you...

Good luck mate, I wish you all the best 👍

Broken leg? Ouch!
All I've done is break my ankle a couple of times, worst part was the not being able to do anything though, not the pain.
Hope you recover soon

Hi mate - appreciate your wishes
Yes unfortunately it happened just as we were due to stop playing. My mate tackled me and in my over zealousness to win the ball back I just overstretched and wend down badly. Heard the sound as I went down and looked up to see my foot facing to the right (sorry for the details!)
But the op appeared to go very well and now I guess I'm on the road to recovery. I'm just gutted as I had hoped to start proper running this time of year. It'll be a few months now
thank you

You're welcome mate. It will take take time and it will be frustrating no doubt about it but keep your spirits up because you will be back.
When you get to the point when you can stand talk to me again and I'll give you more advice because there are plenty of exercises that I can tell you about but no point right now because you're months off being able to do anything.
Take it easy and keep your chin up, it's a set back and this is part of sport. My Achilles injury ended my Leicester career and it was devastating but I got over it 👍

i tore my Achilles and could not play from March thru October

Yeah I was out for about six months with my Achilles injury and about four when I tore my ankle ligaments but I was young and my body recovered quicker than it would have if I was to get injured now for example.
I was 16 when I tore my Achilles and 19 when I injured my ankle. It's now 19 years since I tore my ankle ligaments and it still affects me and I find I twist my ankle on uneven ground if I don't wear supports and when it's cold both ankles ache.

"My advice would be to get stretchy elastic"
He means a resistance power band.
Not to be confused with the French or Bonjovi.
