So it looks almost definite that he will be off in the summer.
I have stated my preference for a new manager several times, being Laurent Blanc, or failing him Poch. Though I acknowledge they would both be difficult to get.
However I would like to pay some compliments to Louis before he goes.
Firstly I like him as a person, I think he is as straight as a die, and a character. He has his believes and sticks to them.
These believes are based on total football in the Dutch manner, with every player being comfortable on the ball, and possession being key.
He has faith in youth and has shown no fear in promoting them. And before everyone says "Ah yes ,but only after injuries" it's clear that he has a deliberately small squad, and a history of promoting from within the club.
For me, even with success, which he never achieved, I would prefer someone more attack minded in what I like to think of as the traditional United way. But the board appointed him knowing what they were getting so it is hardly his fault. You cannot be a manager in secret, so if the board do their homework they know what they are getting.
To defend him from some of the comments on here is not to be part of some LvG in squad, but to take a view of a manager working hard and doing his best.
I have seen one poster suggesting bottling him, and another one breaking his jaw, on this board and they should be ashamed of themselves.
Several have suggested he should not be paid, and even more that he should just resign. A lot have said he is clueless, a clown, a moron and an idiot. I think his record disproves all that.
So when he goes, I will wish him well for a long and happy retirement, and thank him for his honourable efforts for our club.
Plus a big thumbs up for his 'dive'?

None of them have let us down - that is my point. They haven't been worse than the senior players and in some cases that have been better.

How so? The senior players have let us down.
There is nothing foolish about giving youth players a chance. Have a look at his Ajax team that won the CL - I think 12 of the squad were from the Ajax youth setup.

There is no guarantee that the senior players would have done any better than the kids though. The senior players that we have got haven't done great, so why would others? LVG has had his success by promoting youth - why would you want him to change that when from what we have seen at United, his success at spending big money is patchy at best.
As for 1995 being irrelevant, what a load of rubbish. Football is still football and if the youth is good enough you should play them. How many of Barca's top players in recent years have come through the ranks?

anyway our youth isnt good enough, not for what we want to achieve, and thats what makes the point irrelevent.

just because LVG has not been able to get anything from senior players does not mean another manager wont.
then well see if these sub par players like lingard get a sniff in. i doubt they will being honest.
