I see West Ham have sold 52,000 season tickets for next season, second to Manchester United (55,000 STickets sold).
I believe this makes Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and City much smaller clubs than West Ham
Don't worry all you little clubs, one day you might catch up
West Ham 2nd biggest club in the UK

London is a city of over 8 million people so if you knock the tickets out at a low enough price you will sell out. Now we will see if they all turn up, we keep getting told Arsenal and City are sold out yet there are rows of empty seats.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Attendances are based on tickets sold now. Not sure if that is the policy at all clubs but is definitely what happens at City. If people buy tickets and don't turn up, what ya gonna do?
Can only be a good thing for competition that clubs like West Ham are going to have more bums on seats.
Liverpool are expanding too as well as Tottenham.
It's progress and definitely a good thing.
The only problem for West Ham could be a loss of identity. It has definitely happened to City, I think, since the move to Eastlands.
Never had the same vibe as Maine Road. Never will for me.

Yeah I get that, I think you're arguing a different point. I'm saying I don't think that big a proportion should be season tickets.
---------------------------
Maybe not, but they may look at that in the coming years. For now they will just want to get the money in so that they can push on. That said, how would they go about reducing season ticket numbers once they have been dished out? I suppose there will be a natural reduction from those that don't renew, but perhaps not a significant amount?

West Ham are the only one PL club in the entire east London about 3mil people. OS passes through 13 tube and train lines. I for a second, do not doubt filling the stadium.
No wonder Desperate Dan tried every thing to get this stadium. Try getting to tin pot lane on the Saturday afternoon.

If you are a die hard Hammers fan with an st then you will attend all 19 home games. However if you are a semi committed supporter who has managed to pick up a st for under £300 you will feel less compelled to see the lesser teams. Thats what happens when there is no pressure to get your moneys worth.

It's why most keep a waiting list and then assess demand of match day tickets bought, as the difference in cost per seat they get is so high.

A child's season ticket is £99no wonder it's sold out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How is that a bad thing worthy of laughing at?
--------------
Exactly. That is how it should be.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It can be a bad thing for the reasons I put - there is a point where it actually underprices demand and so you end up with a seat that is paid for but unoccupied.
Eithwr there needs to be a good ticket exchange system (although, even when clubs have that, a lot of people don't use it), or there needs to be a mandatory attendance percentage.
All of that is for clubs that sell all of the tickets. If they don't, then absolutely fine.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
nonsense, I couldnt imagine people doing that, not real footy fans.
Most clubs have ticket exchange now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Which are rarely used, particularly in family seat areas. I know, I've experienced it myself multiple times.

Wonder if West Ham will be as tough a place to go now, Highbury use to be a tough place to get a victory, emirates is a vaccuum with no sound and a much easier atmosphere to play in for away teams

You think? I would disagree big time. Although we had a good team imo theres a reason why chelsea went 3 plus years without being beaten at home, we would never had done it with the old greyhound track around. Theres several interviews from players saying they have been affected by atmosphere.

Steady on....your West Ham not Tottenham!
