If the Premiership had a 100m race with the following 8 players at their quickest?
In what order do you think they’d finish? Btw you’ve got Brummie to thank for this.
Andrei Kanchelskis
Nicholas Anelka
Jamie Vardy
Christiano Ronaldo
Michael Owen
Jaap Stam – cos I keep hearing about him having Owen for pace in a cup tie
Gareth Bale
Ryan Giggs
Am sure I am doing a few Arsenal players an injustice here, but their names escape me sorry.
Fast Premiership Players.

Some average players like Agbonlahor, Onuoha, Armand Traore would beat some of those

Agree. There are a lot of obscure players with pretty impressive backgrounds in athletics.
Luton Shelton, Ryo Miyaichi, and Nedum Onouha all supposedly had the choice between football and sprinting, for example.
Of the current batch, Adama Traore, Deandre Yedlin, and Divock Origi are probably some of the more obscure players worth a mention.

First of all, in what world is Divock Origiyang obscure?
Second, the Lord mayor of frosham Djibril Cisse deserves a mention. Bang average footballer but the guy was lightning.

How often do footballers actually run 100m at full pace in a game? Not very often for sure. As the maximum length of a football pitch is 120m, that would be from one goal line to the opposite penaly area on the biggest pitches. A lot of people can only maintain their top speed for a lot less than 100m. A 60m race at most would be more realistic as a measure of a footballers pace shown in matches, and maybe less.

How about Obafemi Martins? Rubbish player but he had some serious pace

most defenders can keep pace with all but a couple of forwards usually. They are nearly all seriously fast blokes (especially against someone trying to dribble at the same time)
pace over 2 yards is what kills them, not 20+

Torres was ridiculously quick over 5 yards while at Liverpool.

One game v Fulham a few year back, Lennon, Bale and Walker broke and sprinted pretty much box to box. Cant remember who won, but it was about as close to a race as you will see. So quick
