Gonna go with verattis assessment and where as assists are important when I think play maker I think of who controls the game and takes hold of the midfielder with class skill engine and passing. Zidane was the epitome of the that, as was veron and ballack. They are probably top 5 with Xavi and iniesta

Guti was a tremendously talented player, yet infuriatingly inconsistent and dare I say heavily overrated by his fans, and I say that even as a Madrid supporter. Seedorf I don't really view as a playmaker, more perhaps a box-to-box midfielder.

Most of these players (especially Iniesta) aren't even on Ozil's level.

Ozil's stats for chances created over the last 8 seasons in the major leagues are so far ahead of anyone else it's just ridiculous.

He's got the most assists in; the German league, Spanish league, PL, CL, World Cup, Euros & Europa league. Mental.

He played in the Europa League for Werder Bremen for a couple of seasons.

Think it was the 09-10 season where he got 6 assists in the competition (tied #1 with Di Maria).

Ozil & Di Maria got 6 each. Ozil went went out in the Last 16 as well.

Iniesta recently went a whole year without a league goal or assist. His stats are shocking. Even John Terry has more goals than that clown.

Truthfully, Ineista isn't even on Ozil's level.
