18 months after being told he wasn't good enough by Alan Pardew and Steve Bruce, has found himself at one of Europes top clubs. Sad indictment on the English game and managers like these that a talent like him couldn't flourish.

He was pretty shiite in the PL though after showing initial promise, didn't pull his weight and went missing big time.
Sometimes a change of scenery and going 'off the radar' a bit can change a player, so good luck to him as he seems to have turned it round and has shown what he should have done in the PL.

Always looked good whenever I saw him

He wan't shiite in the PL at all, he was played repeatedly out of position and told to focus on helping the team out defensively rather than being allowed to express himself.

Or a reflection on a massive talent that needs a certain freedom to perform?
The view of Ben Afra has tended to be he has the talent to be at the top level but not the mentality. Let's see how he does at PSG when the pressure is on and the competition for places is fierce.
A free transfer for PSG so very low risk but it wouldn't surprise me if he fails to make a big impression there.
