British Grand Prix: Silverstone 2016

Well…
The on-track fallout in Austria has had me anticipating this, our home Grand Prix, pretty much like no other in recent memory. With subsequent revelations having very much fanned the flames in the World Championship-leading Mercedes camp, the tension is palpable. End of season title deciders don't happen here; but pivotal, big gun, mid-season battles very much do. The stakes are high.

Unlike the volatile situation at Mercedes, the weather looks like being 'Silverstone standard'; bright and stable for the whole event under a warm, dry cloud blanket. Such predictable stability bodes well for getting the maximum performance from tyres, engines and drivers alike; and all those who managed to get tickets for ultra-high-speed cornering – places like Becketts – will be in for a real treat.

For any F1 fan, this is surely an event not to be missed. And whilst the lower-priced tickets are sold out in the most popular grandstands, there are still plenty for the likes of Stowe, Copse, Luffield, National, Woodcote, etc. Premium tickets are still available for the best seats. General admission is still available from as little as 40 quid.

For anyone with a free weekend, there is still time to make this a highlight of your year.

P.S. Apologies for the new username. After several failed attempts to login under my pre-existing account as cosicave, (together with twice going through the process of getting a new password!), I've resorted to re-registering.

Yeah, terrible news. Take away one of the best aspects of a race. The rain came about 20 minutes too early.

Mercedes tight lipped in Baku, rushed to give Rosberg the engine setting and gearing advice. It wasn't a safety issue, so surely he should be penalised...

4 points gap at the minimum.
