Jonty, if we can't try to be a little optimistic before the start of a new season - when we have just signed 6 new players and got rid of those who were well below standard (Wootton) or trouble makers (Bellusci) - then when can we be optimistic?

We all know Cellino is not a desirable owner and we all wish some knight in shining armour would come along and rescue the club, but until such time as we get new owners then we have to make do with what we have. I know none of us wanted Cook to be sold, but if that is the only way we can get new players in, then we just have to reluctantly accept it. We are all now well used to our best players leaving - remember Bates loved selling them too - but until we become a top team again (if ever!) we shall be in this position.

I am very optimistic regarding Roofe and I think Antonsson may be OK too. The other signings will hopefully be an improvement on last season also, we just have to wait and see. We have to hope they hit the ground running and Cellino doesn't get an itchy finger again if we don't win our first few games.

What that were one of only six clubs that have spent less on players than they have got in ??

What are you optimistic about maid?

That we'll finish top 6 as promised?

Are you optimistic that the club has delivered on its promise that it used to get people to commit to buying STs?

Or are you optimistic that maybe we'll finish 11th?

What is it you're optimistic about?

We've seriously weakened any chances we had by getting rid of our best player, our next best player is being slagged off by Cellino in press, is it this that you're optimistic about?

You say everyone understands that Cellino is a bad owner, can only assume you haven't read people like perths constant defending of what is going on.

Everyone wants us to be successful were just not showing any real intention of doing it.

Jonty, I am usually a pessimist, I always see the dark side or the half empty glass. All I am saying is I am sick of being constantly p****d off with the goings on at LUFC and at this time of the year - before a ball has been kicked - I am trying to feel optimistic about the new season. I am feeling optimistic that we will get promoted - not because the signings are the type we probably all hoped for - but just because I NEED to feel optimistic at this time of the year. I know there is a great chance that the dreadful feelings of doom and gloom will kick in if the team and Monk fail to deliver but, until then, I will keep my optimistic head on. I hope you can understand?

^^^^^ Maid, pretty much where my head's at.

My mindless optimism comes from hoping that Cellino will move on at some point. As far as the squad is concerned, only Roofe looks like he might be a useful addition. The others are, at best, maybes.

No wonder we had difficulties finding a manager. An owner who promises a top 6 challenge but gives the manager a bottom 6 budget to add to an already mediocre squad.

I'm still looking for my body, I seem to have lost track of it since someone took my head off and filled it with crap!.

Maid, completely understand, I'd love it if Monk could work a miracle, all new signings gelled straight away and we actually looked like we had a chance of top 6.

Nothing changes with Cellino though and until he goes it's going to be thinner and thinner pickings and I find it heartbreaking to see our club being taken further and further away from ever being able to compete at the top of English football again.
