Over the past few seasons the expectations surrounding Derby County have been high, both by the media, club & supporters. You could say rightly so, a new ambitious owner, who has invested in playing staff & the infrastructure of the club.
This brings us to the new season, Derby have a new manager with a new first team coach & assistant manager. The manager comes in with a reputation of being tough, single minded, no nonsense & most of all a winner.
But we've seen big names before that have not delivered (see McClaren), but I'm happy with his appointment, he's someone who will stand up to an impatient owner/chairman & won't let players rock the boat.
That brings me to my expectation for the new season, it isn't high I think Derby will finish top 8 at best. I think it will take NP a season to sort the team to how he wants it.
I can't see everyone agreeing with my opinion so lets hear yours..............

If i was a Newcastle fan listening to McClaren telling them where they went wrong and what they should have done better, i would have launched my beer at the telly. Then cried when i had calmed down and realised that i had just broke the telly.

When you have lots of quality players the temptation to tinker is overwhelming. Benitez will have to sort out what his best side is and somehow stop the rest, who all think they are too good for this league anyway, from chucking their toys out of the pram. If he can achieve that they should walk it despite tonight.
Pearson has a similar problem, as have the past two managers, at least in some positions. He's got to decide what his best midfield is and then stick to it. There will be some disappointed players but that's the way it has to be - if you try to keep everybody happy all the time you've got no chance.

I actually think Norwich may struggle to get straight back up.

That's one of the biggest problems with having a quality squad like we have. In the play off final season the first 11 virtually picked itself each week. Then we pack the squad out with talent in case of injuries. Some are going to be disappointed as they would get in most teams first 11 in this league. Hopefully their big pay packets go some way to suppress that. We have to trust the manager as i think some of the fans faves may be left out as he wants to try new things.
He's got the experience we have all been after so whatever team he picks tomorrow we need to show support. I don't think that will be a problem first game back and at home mind. Just hope it lasts more than 20 mins before the groans set in

They had too much quality to get relegated with Griff, or so they thought after spending £80m plus. It's only the first game i agree and i hope our fans see it the same way tomorrow regardless of the result. The Newcastle players just showed many signs that they just expect to win and will cry otherwise. Long season

After seeing some very negative views on social media I have no desire to attend the iPro just yet. FFS it's the first game of the new season with a new manager & a different style! It won't be long before NP tells someone to feck off & die like he did at Leicester.
