Leeds Utd Scapegoats

Just a quick introduction, I used to post quite often on the old BBC 606 but this is my first post on JA606 despite being a member since May 2011.
I do read the articles/comments just about everyday without being tempted to write anything myself until being frustrated at the unfair (IMO) criticism that Chris Wood is getting.
Considering how poor some say he is and not having a regular strike partner since being at Leeds, he still manages to have a 1 in 3 scoring ratio.
I am aware that some of these were penalties but lets face it he has not had the best service from the so called more creative players.
A few of us were talking about this in the car coming home last night. We actually compared the stick Chris Wood gets to similar treatment Lee Chapman used to get from a small section of Leeds fans but Lee Chapman had few advantages on poor Woody, they were called Speed, Strachan, Sterland and Dorigo. If Chris Wood was not scoring with the type of service that Lee Chapman got then I would totally understand the flack he gets.

Anyway that is just my opinion but it made me think about previous players that have had stick from the Leeds fans. Some were not the best but one thing I detest is our players getting stick from our fans.
I'll go for;
Mark Aizlewood, Stuck 2 fingers up at the Gelderd following scoring when he was getting stick.
Scott Wooton, not the best but playing out of position he appeared to give his best. The reaction from the Leeds fans was not on.
Stephen Crainey, Didn't stand a chance with the Leeds fans but went on to be a very good full back for Blackpool.
Luke Varney, same as Wooton, not the best but how low must his confidence have been. Bet he couldn't stop laughing when he won that penalty for Blackburn.
Michael Brown and Michael Tonge, both got stick IMO unfairly.
I'm not saying these are the best players in our history but how do we expect players to perform to their full potential when they hear their own supporters having a go at them.
Right can anyone come up with other players who have had stick from the fans and whether you think the stick was/is fair.

Wood is as bad as Smith and Morrison - all waste of spaces...I'll tell you something Wood is an expert at : Making a booolox of chances !

What are monks plans exactly?

To keep playing youngsters in midfield who aren't up to task yet?

To play Hernandez in wrong position?

To hardly use Mowatt?

What plan is it were supposed to respect?

If given the choice Wood or Matt Smith?

Smith. He gives defenders a hard time despite not being a 'baller'. Doubt defenders lose sleep over prospect of Wood.

I think he can be decent but the teams who will finish in the top 6 will all have strikers who score more than Wood this season

Matt Smith for me. Should not have been sold.

Don't know what his plans, I'm just a simple season ticket holder. I'll re phrase, let's hope he knows what he's doing.

Woods all day long

Smith never played well when started and all that happens is that you end up playing long balls all game, he's just a magnet for it

Far too slow and can't believe people would want him

Egg, inexperienced manager with poor track record and no managerial experience in this division, odds aren't in his favour.

Is monk really picking the side?

Don't know the answer to that Jonty, but he's the head coach. We have to hope he gets it right and support him. I totally agree with you about the inexperience in midfield he may believe that Bridcutt is the answer. Still think we had other options for the first 3 games but Monk has his own ideas.

The root problem we have is that, aside from Dallas, none of our wingers are the kinds of player that want to get wide and cross the ball in. With players like Roofe and Sacko we should be allowing them to push on and run at people. We need to play a more direct game. Then I think we would win morr.
