Lets cut to the chase - it wasn't a classic.
These pre-shows seem to be getting longer and you have to wonder what that does to a crowd. Six hours of wrestling is a lot to take in.
On the other hand, a crowd can sometimes choose to be rebellious and last nights crowd simply didn't lighten up.
The one thing the WWE has to get right with such a long card is the booking and I thought they got it woefully wrong last night.
WWE title as a mid card match? Talk about burying the prize and those fighting for it.
Rusev vs Reigns as the penultimate match slotted in right after the inaugral Universal title match? This decision making killed the flow of the event.
Two matches I would descibe as worthy of a Summerslam:
- Sasha Banks vs Charlotte
- AJ vs Cena
Everything else could have been mistaken for a RAW segment.
To have your 2 final matches result in basically 'no contests' was a disgrace to the legacy of such a prestigious PPV.
When I look back to Wembley in 1992 or Maddison Sq Garden in 1998 and compare it to this, it makes me lose all hope for the business because the talent is undoubtedly there but the creative team and the bookers should be ashamed of themselves.
There are too many PPVs and not enough time to build real feuds. Now we're getting an influx of new belts. Something needs to change and quick because the fans are turning on the roster.

WWE was booked horribly. Cena and AJ should've been the main event, but hindsight is 20/20 I guess. Dean Ambrose should be removed from the belt asap. WWE has a huge problem with a lack of main eventers.
I think they need to upgrade Samoa Joe and Nakamura to the Raw/Smackdown roster, push them to main even status along with AJ, RKO, Rollins, Cena (If he's still going to wrestle).
They need to at minimum suspend lesnar, but I think they should cut him loose. He's a hazard in the ring if he's going to play UFC in a scripted match. He doesn't like being there, he doesn't put on entertaining matches, and he cheapens the roster.

We have Finn Balor as the new U-Champ, isn't that a positive move forward?
One thing I noticed, the first 5 matches were all won by the heels. Ok having home boys Enzo'n'Cass lose the first match was an unexpected twist, I liked that, but when the heels keep winning, what does it do to the live audience who want to cheer for their hero's?
At least with exclusive PPV's to Raw or Smackdown, in theory that gives them 2-ish months to build to them, if they keep the rosters apart in between.
I thought the look on Cena's face, and leaving his armband in the ring, was a great old school touch. Apparently he's taking planned time away, can't remember what for.
