Pep and Jose: Renewed Rivalry

Ahead of the Manc derby, I just read this very good piece in the Fail (I know, shocked me as well) about the relationship between Pep and Jose from the 90's up till now. Very informative about their time in Spain and why Mourinho despises Barcelona too.

A French friend said that recently Etoo gave an interview on French TV and went into detail about how much of a c-nt Pep was to him at Barca. Great manager but he does seem to have issues communicating with certain players.

I'm wondering how many United fans, who used to slate Mourinho's lack of class every day will jump to his defence when he starts the mud (or sh¡t) slinging!

Eric, I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the show (if we win the match and the league) or cry silently.

Mourinho has had every chance to have a dig at Pep so far but he's kept his cool and just offered his respect instead. I really don't think we'll be seeing their personalities clash on the touch line like in Spain.

Don't be naive, when things start getting serious we will see other sides to Jose, it's (for me) something Jose does very well just like Ferguson. I think their opposing styles is facinating and personally I've always been a fan of Jose, I know he's been a d-ck sometimes but so what. As United fans we backed Ferguson virtually all the time while rivals continually hated on the guy, that's just part of what happens when you manage the way these 2 do/did.

Pep ain't no saint either, like I said he seems to have communication issues and can be very cold to players. Remember when he ignored Ronaldo at some awards ceremony a few years back, he just has an awkward way about him at times.

Did you not see what Eto'o said to him on the first day?

"I first of all reminded Guardiola that he'd never been a great player," Eto'o told BeIN Sports. "He was a good player, that's true. I told him. As a coach, he had proven nothing. He came in and didn't even know the story of the dressing room.

"Guardiola has never had the courage to say things in front of me. He passed by the players. Xavi told me they wanted me to stay but I had to talk to Pep. I say 'never, if you do not respect me, I do not respect you'.

"Pep told me how to move like a striker. I told him: 'You're not normal!' The true story is that Pep didn't respect the things in football.

Sounds like Eto'o had an attitude problem right from the start and he wonders why Pep wanted him out.

And Pep was a better player than Eto'o ever was and a much better player than anyone ever gives him credit for.

When Chelsea played Barca in the CL Bobby Robson was in the studio and he was asked who the biggest danger to Chelsea was Figo, Rivaldo or Paddy K. Robson responded Guardiola, he is the most influential and important player at the club.

Why would he resort to eye gouging after scoring a hattrick? You're weird, you are.

When he returned to Chelsea, he was "the Happy One". He was also calm ... for about three months. Jose is Jose. There is no doubt, NONE that he is a great coach but his mouth is not so great!
