Steve Morgan speaks out

Apparently Fosun have deep pockets, lets hope they don't have short arms

Would like to think given the enormity of the day he would have had them motivated from kick off

Wolfie still going on about Mick?

Yes Cyp, that was a memorable day. Wolves so lucky to go 2 down to 2 deflected goals and so lucky to come back from the dead with two goals in the second half and so lucky that Blues couldn't get a result at Spurs and so lucky to get a point more than Blues over the season.

while being in the prem and avoiding relegation is an achievement in itself the fact is that a club of our size should rightly expect and provide more.
stoke have, albion have, swansea have, palace have .
morgan and all his managers including mick haven't ... they've all rightly gone, and good riddance

Can't agree more.

However, Morgan set the budget which was implemented by Moxey and worked at by Mick, Connor and others. We had the third lowest wages for each of the 3 years we were in the Prem and survived for two years despite this.

Now we have a level of investment that might allow us to compete in the Champo and hopefully in the Prem. I just hope that we have the personnel who can take the conditions and resources that we have been provided with and convert that into the success that we all crave.

Over the years there have been lots of clubs quoted as getting it right and that we should follow their example, but the clubs quoted regularly change. Rarely see Portsmouth, Blackburn, Bolton and Charlton quoted any more.

Its frustrating that a club of Wolves potential has spent such little time in the top flight in the last generation. But as we have spent only 4 of the last 34 seasons in the top flight its a bit rich to say its something we expect. And if it hadn't been for the failure McCarthy maybe it would have been 1 of the last 34 seasons.

I couldn't enjoy the end of that Blackburn game because I was still seething from the first half performance. I remember thinking that despite how it panned out in the end the feckers actually deserved to be relegated and that wasn't something to celebrate!

It was a shame because we had improved as a team and had enough points to see us safe in most PL seasons but that 0-3 surrender absolutely killed me.

The most damning thing though was Morgan's words after the game, "I promise you, we wont go through that again". He was factually correct I suppose.

We didn't know it at the time, but that game was an insight into the following season, going behind early in game after game.

Also i think Birmingham were victims of their own success that season, winning the micky mouse cup distracted them and they lost all focus down the home straight.

All irrelevant in the end, we got ours the following season and ironically we probably suffered more damage going down then than we would have the season before.

still if we hadn't have been on that road we wouldn't have ended up where we are now

Albion have been relegated from the Prem on a number of occasions, and Mick has avoided relegation from the Prem with us twice, (which could have been more, but we'll never know now, obviously).
