American Sports

Basketball NBA
American Football NFL
Baseball MLB
Ice Hockey NHL

this article is about the sport as a spectator sport rather than involvement or video gaming.

so how do we feel about them? I tend to watch a bit of NBA at playoff time, and I have grown much more into the NFL over the last few years. I don't have a team or a favourite, but If its on I will watch it for a bit. once you get past the idea that they just crash into each other then pile on top of each other in their helmets, then actually its probably the most strategic and tactically interesting sport that I have ever come across.

Baseball and Ice Hockey I have no time for, although when in the States I have been to a professional game of both. Tampa Bay Devil Rays baseball, and Tampa Bay Lighting Ice Hockey.

so, who out there are American Sports fans? If so, which are your favourite sports, and if you don't like it, then what is it about the sport that you don't like?

Well I know the feeling about housing prices these days.

I enjoy watching the NFL It took some time to understand the rules (still have trouble with some of them!) but the more I learned, the more enjoyable it became. My main complaint is that, thanks to TV commercials, the game can take more than two and a half hours to watch. TG for PVR's.

Next to the NFL, I watch some ice hockey but pay little attention to it until the spring months when the playoffs begin. Basketball does little for me (I think you have had to play the game to appreciate the skills and tactics) and baseball is like watching paint dry although I do acknowledge there is a certain amount of skill and tactics at play during the time it takes to get through a game.

The game I was brought up on, fitba', is still my sport of choice but it has changed so much over the past 20+ years with styles of play so transparent nowadays and with the authorities so oblivious to the diving and simulation, I am finding easier to switch off and find alternative sources of sporting entertainment these days.

the 3 hours flies by for me when I'm watching the Raiders, especially at the moment the games are so tight.

Certainly flies by when you are at an actual game

Yes mate, been to a few at Wembley, though not for sometime, I used to watch the London Monarchs regularly.
