Finally got back from my Copenhagen excursion yesterday after hopping across Europe and spending way too much in the airport gift shops. I'm really glad I spent an extra day - it's a lovely city to visit, even if most of the statues have turned green. Great food, great sights, great people.
Regarding the football though, I've seen a few things written about it but figured there were a few things worth throwing chucking into the fray:
Firstly, I don't know how the atmosphere came across but from where I was it was awful. Our fans were awful, in the ground at least. When we were gathered outside the station ready for our transfer onwards it was fantastic, to the point where locals were filming us. But just before we reached the ground the singing started to fire, then by the time the match started it was as though the fans had run out of energy. There was one frankly horrible lad with Mahrez on his back cursing at his fellow fans on the way back to the station for not creating an atmosphere; I suspect he'd spent most of the evening being obnoxious instead of doing his best to create a good atmosphere but he was objectively correct.
Second, the play itself: I've seen some criticism of individuals but the fault in the first half surely lies with Ranieri this time. Surely the starting 11 was not our strongest? I can't be certain, but it looked like one of those times when a manager tries something, then if it works he looks like a genius and if it doesn't the players look clueless. In this case it was trying to play a 4-4-2 when attacking and a 5-4-1 when defending. What it resulted in was Musa unsure what to do, Mahrez leaving the right wing completely empty and Schlupp sitting back and afraid to go. Only when Ranieri changed back to some sort of normality and balance in the formation by putting Schlupp on the right did we get any grip on the game. Also the team selection was shown up further as Mahrez was the only player looking to receive a forward pass to feet for ages, which in turn played the like of Huth and Morgan into trouble. So I think the manager takes the blame for that first half.
Thirdly, I've seen an awful lot of criticism of Schlupp; I think he's deserved this of late but I didn't think he was so bad against Copenhagen. First half I thought he was trying to follow a bad instruction, but then he managed a few dangerous breaks and charges as the match went on, at one point almost getting through the whole opposing defence on his own. (Granted you win nothing for "close" of course). But he looked more like the Schlupp of last season to me. Amartey and Musa I'd agree were less than impressive though - Amartey in particular looked like he was playing with stinging nettles in his pants all game. Perhaps he felt worried about the reception he'd get from the home fans.
Finally, one for MerseysideFox - If my absolute highest rating for any other player would be a 7, Fuchs was a 9. Excellent performance and no way we'd have got a clean sheet without him. Our MOTM without question, even considering Schmeichel's broken-hand save.
Copenhagen - A few belated thoughts

Dunge - I agree but that game was the least inspiring I've seen since Rotherham on Boxing Day about 10 years ago!!!
Fans and players inspire each other. I'm surprised people even stayed awake watching that dross.

Albrighton in front of Simpson and Mahrez in front of Fuchs (works mainly defensively because Fuchs is so good and can cover often for Mahrez's lack of defensive know-how) with King able to drop across to cover as well for Mahrez when he drifts, for me, is the best set up currently.

I was pretty shocked at the support at Chelsea to be honest and it got me thinking as to who is actually getting these tickets nowadays. I realise the team were rubbish that day, but surely the fans should be getting behind the team on such away trips, not to mention being the Champions of England.

Completely agree dunge.
We commented on the support and noticed that the average age of city fans must be at least fifty. Maybe the youngsters couldn't afford it.
I was also a little surprised by the distinct lack of appreciation from the players after the game. A cursory nod and brief clap as they sauntered past on the way to the tunnel was scant acknowledgment of the time and expense we had all invested in traveling to the game.
Overall though I had a great trip. Spent two nights in Copenhagen, saw lots of the city (not only the bar's, although quite a few), met some great people and enjoyed seeing City abroad for the first time.
Oh, and I also though Schlupp was OK as mentioned on an earlier thread.

Concur on Sclupp.
Although not sure how much of it was the other players dropping down to Jeff's current level of performance rather than him raising his game 😄

I'm going to go against the grain here. I thought Schlupp was poor. Not as bad as some, but poor.
Yes he was clearly told not to attack in the first half (why I have no idea) but apart from the one run in the second half he looked devoid of ideas with the ball.
He needs to go back to what he does well - overlapping, driving forward and getting in to the box on the diagonals. He looks very short on confidence currently.
Yes he wasn't as bad as some on weds, but that doesn't make him good.
Gray must be doing some serious things wrong on the training pitch!

Completely agree Mersey
Schlupp has regressed instead of progressed, and we cannot afford to waste a squad space on a player like that.
January will see a parting of the ways I think, and that will be best for both parties.

There was a group of foxes fans front centre
bouncing up and down singing.
The rest just pathetic.
Also why were there at least 200 empty seats either side front?

Hard to believe Leicester City haven't conceded a goal in CL but getting beaten or outplayed so easily in PL. Even long unbeaten home PL run over.

Maybe Leicester City forcefield powers in PL last season allowed them as top seeds in CL to go all the way and win it
