Phil Jones rejected Liverpool and Arsenal, in favour of the reigning Champions.
Now it appears that Ashley Young has also turned down the second most succesful side in England, in order to go to the record 19 times Champions.
Has Liverpools failure to even qualify for the Europa League, meaning that their Autumn mid weeks will only see them playing League 1 and 2 sides on the early rounds of the League Cup, diminished their appeal?
With another potential knockout by a 4th tier team on the cards, can you really blame either player for preferring to opt for a night against European elite?
What about the worry that Arsenal, on for 4, won sweet all, but ended up with 4...th, could go out in the CLeague qualifiers, will this have put Jones off, or was the lure of Old Trafford just too strong anyway?
Is this a sign of the times?

"The World Club Championship is not on the radar because, like the Charity Shield and the European Super Cup, you barely have to do anything to win it."
You have to qualify for, and then win, the Champions League, which take 2 seasons! Hardly tossing a coin
CShield, you have to win The Premier League or FACup (bar double winning seasons when second in the Prem qualifies) so again it's quite a big thing to be in it.
And I have never understood why the League Cup, where the top teams have to play 6 games to capture it (lower league and non European qualifying teams play the earlier rounds as well), with the Final at Wembley, is seen as lower than The FACup, where the top teams play 6 games to win it, lower teams playing earlier rounds.
You ever see any winning team not dancing around the pitch like giddy winners afterwards, like it doesn't matter?
Like I said I find your attitude very small minded, from a bygone era, you don't work for the FA do you?
So, you played amazingly against Santos, and lost, doesn't that mean they still player better? I'm suprised that someone as possionate about his club as you seem to be, doesn't bother about a competition that shows your club to be the best in the World.
"My idea was to build Liverpool into a bastion of invincibility. Napoleon had that idea. He wanted to conquer the bloody world. I wanted Liverpool to be untouchable. My idea was to build Liverpool up and up until eventually everyone would have to submit and give in."
Need I remind you who said that?

What a surprise. The only trophies that matter are the ones that when added together give Liverpool a lead of one over you.
Calling the FA Cup minor is pathetic.

Just because you have to win something big to qualify for it doesn't make it a big competition. You've already been awarded a major trophy for winning the big competition, you don't get another one for winning one extra game.
You're being deliberately contrary, I've made my points as clearly as I'm willing to, so carry on making up different rules to suit your agenda if you like.

Didi, I would say the only fair way is to look at ALL official trophies available. But as that's 59-58 in Uniteds favour, you lot don't want to do that.
Some Liverpool fans on BBC/JA606 have a history of moving the goal posts, it used to be 18, then when we got 18, it was 18/5. Now we have 19, suddenly it's 5.
TWICE in the last few seasons.
As it is, Liverpool have been coughing and spluttering for two decades, and have stalled on the track for five years. Even the number of trophies available to them next season is one less. While Man United keep on racking them up, I wonder what you will say when it's 19/3, or 19/4, 20/4......?
JW, always room for one more

I thought you'd retired to Spain, and left minions to run your businesses back in ol' Blighty?

It's like 606 never closed...
I would also say counting all trophies is the only fair way, as what counts as a 'major' trophy differs in different people's eyes. Unless they were all Charity Shields of course, then that would be ridiculous. And impossible, but you see what I'm getting at.
