Hi, I have heard a lot of discussion today about The Rooney Rule, Talk sport were talking about it and I have just read a good article on Sky Sports http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12028_7160085,00.html
I'm interested to know what football fans think - would it make a difference? Does British football need such a rule?
Is there a problem with racism in British football?
Why aren't there more ethnic minorities who manage?
What i think is important is that its not just about Black Players going into management, its all minorities. Why aren't there more managers of Chinese/Japanese/Indian Pakistani origin?
I'm just interested to know what people think?
Cheers
The Rooney Rule

I know the arguement against will say they should only been there on merit but it seems like a lot of black ex pros don't even get that chance
----------------------------------
if they apply, they have as much chance as anyone else.... unless you're implying that chairman are racist and wouldn't hire the best candidate if they're non-caucasian, which i find hard to believe.
When I used to work for my local authority as a temp, i went onto their website looking at the vacancies page, and found this line...
"All disabled persons who meet the person criteria are guaranteed an interview"
to me, that is clear discrimination against the able bodied. Why shouldn't everyone who meets the person criteria be guaranteed an interview?

Was it the ex Dallas Cowboy owner who said he would interview blacks by phone and white's face to face?
